Do I need AirPods?

I’m thinking about upgrading from my current Beats earbuds - wireless but joined by a little wire that sits at the back of your neck. The sound and battery life are good but I find the controls a bit fiddly.
Will moving on to AirPods significantly improve my life? I can’t really tell from reading the Apple website or reviews but people seem to rave about them…

I was bought a pair and I have them to my DH who bought them.

They are too easy to lose for me and don't sit in my ears very well which is a shame on both counts.

I've gone back to wired headphones as I'm sick of having to charge things.

Thighdentitycrisis · 26/04/2022 17:59

They might suit if they fit in your ears

my DS advised they are exact same shape as the wired ones, you can buy them for 20.00 and try them out.

Thighdentitycrisis · 26/04/2022 17:59

I still use wired, scared lose buds while running

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 26/04/2022 18:00

I didn't like them, I found them really uncomfortable as did ds2 . Both me and ds1 changed to echo earbuds instead .

I love mine. Use them constantly and always return to the case to charge when not in use. I lost one of mine in a car park within an hour of getting them but was able to find them because of Find My iPhone. I've had other wireless headphones but they are a faff to pair whereas it's pretty seamless with other Apple products.

loobylou44 · 26/04/2022 18:03

I had AirPods Pro. The sound quality was fantastic but they just didn't stay in my ears. My teenage daughter has them now and I have Powerbeats Pro instead.

TooManyPJs · 26/04/2022 18:04

I love them. I would get the pro. The noise cancelling is amazing.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 26/04/2022 18:10

That’s interesting - I was considering the Pros because of the choice of different-sized tips.
I’ve never got on with the basic Apple earphones.

I really like mine. They are the first apple earphones in years I've got on with.

I also have some bone conduction headphones (from aftershokz) for cycling/ running which I like but they obviously can't have noise cancelling and I miss it when i walk around in noisy town.

Ballsaque · 26/04/2022 19:03

I only have the basic AirPods and they’re great, especially when cleaning or doing gardening.

EasterDecorations · 26/04/2022 19:04

I've got the regular ones and use them all the time, having never been much of an earphone user before. They pair so easily with apple products (I also use them easily with a Windows laptop).

I use my apple watch to control them when I'm walking or exercising or have just left my phone in another room, the bluetooth range is great if you do walk away from your phone (I can leave mine in the kitchen and go anywhere in the house or garden still connected). The charging case is great too, I can't remember last time one went flat while I was wearing them and the Find My thing is very useful too.

saggyhairyass · 26/04/2022 19:29

Be careful! People lose them all the time.

I prefer big cans myself.

I love my AirPod Pros, and find the noise cancelling very useful.

Mol1628 · 26/04/2022 19:35

They’re quite hard to lose. As long as you take them out when you aren’t listening to something. Because if they drop out whilst you have music on then the music pauses, so you’d always notice straight away.

I have the AirPods 3rd gen (not pros) and they really are good. I’ve got some cheap Anker ones as well and they’re crap in comparison.

Trivester · 26/04/2022 19:37

I love mine but they are the only shape that don’t hurt my ears and they don’t fall out.

sageandbasil · 26/04/2022 19:38

I went from beats to AirPods and I love them. One of the only headphone to fit my ears too

@EasterDecorations I didn't know you could control them with your watch! This will make life so much easier!

NothingIsWrong · 26/04/2022 19:45

I didn't like AirPods but I do love my Aftershokz. Bone conductors so they aren't in your ear at all, and they are joined with a stiff band that doesn't touch your head

PlinkPlankPlunk · 26/04/2022 19:50

I like different ones for different things. I use my air pods around the house or while gardening so I can still vaguely hear what’s going on. I have anger ones with a wire round the back that fit very snugly for running and a pair of B and O noise cancellers for flights/trains/things where other people might get on my nerves!

The air pods are very convenient with the charged case etc

DH, DD and I have all had them for about two years and none of us have lost one yet, only around the house.

chipsandpeas · 26/04/2022 19:56

i love my airpods pros, i did buy a silicon strap that clips onto them so if they fall out then i wont lose them (if you have the right sized tips in they shouldnt fall out)
but im looking at a similar strap that clips into earrings as well

Cynderella · 26/04/2022 20:13

I love mine and have never been able to wear other in ear headphones. They do occasionally fall out especially when i push my hair back, and so I don't wear them on the move outside the house. Sons have them, wear them everywhere and have never lost them.

Archillesheel · 26/04/2022 20:20

I love my AirPods and love the noise cancelling on it. I was on a noisy flight last week and had them on without watching/listening to anything and it cut out 50% of the passenger noise behind me where I fell asleep.

IloveJudgeJudy · 26/04/2022 20:20

I've also got the Pros but they don't fit my ears particularly well and I'm worried about them falling out so I've bought some little silicon clip thingies to fit inside my ears not outside them.

The sound is great and I can have them quite low and still hear whatever I'm listening to very well. I'll try to find the link to the silicon thingies.

IloveJudgeJudy · 26/04/2022 20:22

It's these. I bought overeat clips but they were more uncomfortable. I have trouble with the fitting of all in-ear earphones.
