Hi, i applied for my babies first passport on 04/04/22 and on 15/04 it's been updated to state that her documents have been recieved, how long does it take to process from that point? Has anyone applied recently, how long did it take for you recieve babies first passport?

I applied on 16th December and received his passport mid January, and we lived in Germany at the time!

Fireyflies · 19/04/2022 16:15

Usually 1-2 weeks.

trevthecat · 19/04/2022 17:05

We are on week 5 and not yet had text to say documents received. They have arrived as sent recorded and ha e checked but they haven't started the passport yet

Cici05 · 19/04/2022 18:27

Oh gosh, it said a first child passport should take 5 weeks, but now i can't find that page and it says can take up to 10 weeks for a new passport! However as mentioned the tracker is up to date to state that docs were received. We go away at the start of June so fingers crossed it arrives before then! And good luck with your application, hope you get an update soon!

Application made and documents sent 16/3
Documents acknowledged as recieved 1/4
Application accepted 14/4
And I've just had a text to say it's been printed now.
From the looks of media coverage it looks like the wait times might have increased now though

Happylittlepickle · 19/04/2022 19:14

I sent my son's documents off early march (11th maybe), confirmed as received 29th march, application approved 9th April, it was printed 15th April and just waiting for it to be sent. Slowwwww

Choice4567 · 19/04/2022 19:16

Just had a text today to say documents received and passport will take ten weeks. I’m obviously hopeful it’ll be sooner!

Tibtab · 19/04/2022 19:17

About 4-5 weeks. Took them ages to acknowledge receipt of the documents then everything was a bit quicker after that.

Cici05 · 19/04/2022 19:49

Gosh, it said it would only take 5 weeks when i applied 2 weeks ago! I hope it doesn't take 10 weeks! We're booked to go away on the 1st june!

When did you apply?

Which passport office? Dome seem quicker than others.

Tibtab · 19/04/2022 21:36

I applied online and sent the documents to Bootle?

Applied end of Feb, received passport end of March. Documents arrived back separately about a week later.

Are you 100% sure that was the passport offices official times and not something anecdotal? I did my DDs in early January and that said 8 weeks even then and it’s got progressively longer since. In reality it only took 2.5 weeks, their usually over estimate.
Cici05 · 19/04/2022 22:19

Yeah, it said 5 weeks for a first child passport. My husbands renewal has been really quick and we applied the same day, his has been printed and due to be delivered, his was sent to belfast. My DD 's docs have been acknowledged but no update since. We still have 6 weeks, but reading on twitter etc people have been waiting longer so a little worried now!

Which office did you send to? I sent 2 weeks ago and they acknowledged receipt of docs within 10 days, but nothing since Confused

I applied online and sent documents on 17 March and just had a text today to say it’s been printed. By the time it gets here will have been approx 5 weeks in total which to be fair is what it said the average time taken was when I applied.

NickBWilliarms · 19/04/2022 22:41

It's been 6 weeks between sending docs off and passport printed for us. Add an extra week for it to be sent. This is march- April timeframe.

prediction500 · 19/04/2022 22:44

Child renewal...6 weeks and counting here and it has not yet been processed.
It said current time 5 weeks at the time of applying, but that it can take up to 10 weeks!

Barleysugar85 · 19/04/2022 22:46

Applied 4th March (Bootle)- approval wasn't before the last couple of days in March. Then printing took about a week and it was delivered the week after that. So within 6 weeks start to finish for us.

If you ring you can make a note of your travel dates with the passport office. It might help, we were told they had been noted with our application.

WilsonandNoodles · 19/04/2022 22:57

Applied 24/2, documents received 24/3 (they were actually received on the 26/2 but opening an envelope took a long time!) passport approved on 13/4 but we haven't had the message to say printed yet.
My older son's was a renewal and took 2 weeks sent at the same time.

RockCrushesLizard · 19/04/2022 22:58

Applied 22/2/22, posted docs 23/2, updated to say docs received 14/3/22, approved 17/3, printed 22/3, arrived 28/3.

1 day under 5 weeks.

Did a renewal for an older child on the same day, it arrived a week earlier.

It is getting towards high season for passport applications, but you've got time I would hope.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/04/2022 05:52

Ours was Peterborough and it was a child renewal.
