Got it. I had to ask Alexa for synonyms though!

I've got to 998 and I still can't find the answer! I suspect I'm almost comically bad at this sort of thing - it feels too much like a cryptic crossword

I really don't understand the scoring. How can a word score hot and then a contraction of the same word is cold. Words with opposite meanings scoring similar.
I don't think I get it.

I'm just so frustrated now. I've got to 998 in 383 guesses.

PS I'd also appreciate a hint!
