He's also got muscle tension in his right hand holding the table. The thumb twitches but the rest of the hand is not relaxed.

Controlling a hand tremor??

www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2022/04/21/vladimir-putins-liberation-mariupol-really-tells-us-war/

"The reality is he cannot afford to lose any more troops."

YorkshireLondonMiss · 21/04/2022 18:36

He really does look very much like he is on steroids. When my uncle was in the last few months with glioblastoma they were pumping him full of steroids and he puffed up so much he looked very much like this. Very bloated face in particular. I don’t feel like this looks like it’s just from over eating cream buns…if the rumours re thyroid cancer are true then that would make sense that he has puffed up so much around his jaw/neck. The only thing is it’s generally one of the least life threatening cancers…although this is based on U.K. I have no idea on cancer treatments in Russia but let’s just say bathing in deer antlers probably won’t help.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/04/2022 18:41

He's holding on to that table for dear life, he's also stabilising with his feet, notice the how wide he's put his feet.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/04/2022 18:47

He's also talking about how heroic the Russian army was in preserving and protecting the existence of Russia.

Ijsbear · 21/04/2022 18:49

Looking at other pics, he usually keeps his feet that wide. But he doesn't look well at all ...

That video is really interesting. His chin is no longer clean cut but saggy. He's sunken into his shoulders. He's very still but his foot twitches like a cat tail when the cat isn't at ease.

This video is clearly cleared for release. But he's always gone for the fit, strong man image before and not this table-clutching defensive-hunched-postured saggy chin look. I wonder what on earth is going on.

It is extremely odd. Why is he holding on to the table so tightly? And his legs look out of proportion to his body, almost wasted. The body, sagging into the chair.

I hope he’s on his way out, sooner rather than later.

blueshoes · 21/04/2022 19:00

Hopefully he is being slowly poisoned, ideally with polonium.

MMBaranova · 21/04/2022 19:01

His decline has been evident over recent months. No idea what the condition is, but it's not good.

I haven't passed on anonymised information from relatives behind the lines recently because they really don't seem to be in a good way. It's not just the lack of supplies and living in a cellar most of the time; there are health and stress related issues.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/04/2022 19:05

His voice was quieter than I expected it to be. I haven't had a lot of exposure to Putin before the war (obvs seen lots of still pics where he usually looked angry) but he seems almost timid in this clip.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/04/2022 19:07

@MMBaranova forgive me but can you remind me where they are? I'm so sorry, how anyone has carried on under such terror us beyond my comprehension.

I felt that he was playing to a domestic audience to show how he cares for his Russian soldiers (like hell he does) and how he has extended an olive leaf to the Ukrainian defenders in the steel complex.

We are supposed to see compassionate putin not ranty seething hissing putin.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 21/04/2022 19:13

I think the spiel about preserving Russia is aimed at the West, a threat again.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/04/2022 19:16

Ahhhhh maybe this is why he was gripping the table then? It was killing him pretending to be half decent.

Igotjelly · 21/04/2022 19:30

More diplomats banned from entering Russia, Canadian this time. At this rate it would be quicker to write a list of those they will let in.

Igotjelly · 21/04/2022 19:32

Sky News reporting that earlier today russian troops tried, and failed, to storm the steel plant.

Ijsbear · 21/04/2022 19:34

I wonder how the offensive and counter offensive in the Donbass is going. Last I heard Ukrainians had taken heavy losses. praying for them

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/04/2022 19:39

Maybe more hostages would survive if the Russians succeeded in storming the plant rather than shutting it down entirely. There would be opportunity to escape for some maybe? I'm not sure how something so huge as this steel plant doesnt have a myriad of exit points?

Igotjelly · 21/04/2022 19:42

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10739821/Russian-gas-exec-hanged-wife-daughter-hacked-death-Spanish-villa.html

sorry for the DM link but another oligarch and family found dead in a ‘murder suicide’

Ijsbear · 21/04/2022 19:43

They have several batallion groups there. Assuming some are holding the city (though I wonder how empty the rest of the city is, given the deportations) then some will be in a ring around the plant. If someone escapes they might be heading directly into fire. Plus ... if they escape, what's there for them? more Russian soldiers, who are probably highly pissed off by now and will take it out on the escapees. If not, deportation. Or hunger/thirst. If you have a baby or child who needs water and food ... Damned if you do, damned if you don't try to escape. |

I think every grown individual there is hoping for a miracle but knows that realistically they may not live much longer. But you take each day, each hour at a time.

Ijsbear · 21/04/2022 19:46

They do at least have each other. I imagine tempers are frayed and there are some very bad moments but they -will- be pulling together. Humans are desperately pack animals and when surrounded by enemies and severe trouble ... they cling together and draw some degree of comfort with each other. And mothers will be trying to look after their children and keep some sort of structure to the day going and regularity. These are not people who are falling apart, no matter how great the danger they are in.

ShinyHat22 · 21/04/2022 19:53

I hadn’t put much stock in the ‘Putin’s unwell’ rumours, but that phot makes me think twice. He looks terrible, and those hands gripping the table....

ScrollingLeaves · 21/04/2022 19:55

@MMBaranova

I am sorry your relatives are not very well and also living under such difficult conditions. In an earlier post you mentioned they were considering trying to escape. I am sorry that didn’t work out.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 21/04/2022 19:55

@Ijsbear yes it's not like they get past one Russian group into the arms of the Ukrainian forces. I'm sure they will have thought of everything, even the high risk options. I hope the governments are still trying to help them and haven't just given up.

YorkshireLondonMiss · 21/04/2022 20:17

@Hillsmakeyoustrong maybe he was gripping the table in fear at being so close to another human.
