The days are slipping by here, weve done 2 days out and then other bits and meetups so far. Easter weekend we have a meal booked and an Easter egg hunt/day at a local stately home place. Next week not much. I had a huge list of to do's- painting the house, doing my planning/reports, doing garden, batch cooking etc so far nothing done!!
Hows everyone else doing?

Alright so far. We're going away for a long weekend tomorrow. I'm back at work on Tuesday, DS will be going to holiday club.

Silverbirch2 · 14/04/2022 08:50

@waxonwaxoff0 enjoy! My dc love the holiday clubs, I cant justify the price this time as I'm term time only.

Limited here as we dont have the cash to do much , we have done a park trip , 2 walks with my friends dog and a trip to the community kitchen.

I am going to do a sunday dinner and an Easter egg hunt for the children on sunday so im looking forward to that.

At least it gives us time to fully rest and relax , i have also caught up on washing.

DH started with covid beginning of the week. Thought it best I tell the friends we were due to meet up through the week to give them the option to cancel, which they understandably did. I've tested positive today. DH really struggling with it, I'm feeling worse by the minute, DC climbing the walls already. Holiday cancelled. So pretty shit really.

Fifipop185 · 14/04/2022 08:59

Not bad, our DC's are age 13-18. We are all home from work / college / school and are trying to get them all out in the fresh air every other day and away from wifi and screens and revision.

I wfh so I'm desperate to go out every day while DH is desperate for some home time as he spends a lot of time on the road.

The bickering between them started yesterday, you'd think they were ages 3-8 again Hmm

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/04/2022 08:59

Mine had the two weeks before Easter, so we're two thirds of the way done, and I am BORED! DH never takes AL in school holidays unless we're going away, so it's down to me to keep the DC entertained, which I find hard when the weather's not brilliant.

We've done museums, swimming, cinema, visiting family - thankfully they've had a couple of days at a holiday camp this week which gives me a bit of breathing space, and DH will be off for the Easter weekend so will have no choice but to pitch in (I think he'd actually forgotten about the bank holidays, as he looked slightly startled when I pointed this out), and then they're back to school on Tuesday.

DinosApple · 14/04/2022 09:01

We've been at home for a few days. DC needed to decompress (11&12yo).

They've played outside, on the trampoline, made Easter bunting and blown eggs. The house is trashed and we've got visitors coming for Easter Sunday so I'll need to lay into that.

But it has been nice because the weather's been lovely. They also had a sleepover at a friend's house which was really nice. It was my first child free day in years as they were both out. It was lovely. I'm a TA so always home at the same time as the DC.

Hoping to get hold of some fuel and go out for the day next week, but really the kids are just excited to see family on Sunday.

TeenPlusCat · 14/04/2022 09:05

Having avoided it for 2 years, we've got Covid.

Silkierabbit · 14/04/2022 09:06

DD (16) has done loads and hopefully fitted in some GCSE revision inbetween Been to Paris for a week by herself to stay with French MIL, been speaking French, and out to Paris, museums, forest and lake. She also did a day trip to London with a friend, been to gym, out with boyfriend, out with 2 sets of friends today.

Me So far I did chemotherapy week one, cancelled week 2 due to neuropathy being too bad, hospital call today. Cat died at 17 on Monday night after heavy bleeding and vet could not save her. Then 2 days of arguing with ESA as they rejected my breast cancer sick note and were trying to get me to job centre in person when have to avoid covid. And EHIC apparently think I may not live in UK Hmm But 2 days solved those and getting a payment for 3 months on Wednesday. Also DSs school have decided mid year 10 they cannot meet needs and I need to find him another one with LA so been sorting that whilst feeling rubbish on chemo and hair is now falling out.

DS has been a sloth, he is 15 and ASD/anxious but should get better for us from today as I have a week off chemo are going away for 3 nights, first night, dinner and breakfast was given by a cancer charity, second and third managed to get half price from owner. By Welsh coast and also hopefully doing canoeing and a RIB ride.

Chipsahoy · 14/04/2022 09:07

Back to school on Monday (Scotland)
Last week was freezing. Snow and wind. So we stayed home a lot. This week has been better. A few days out. Another planned tomorrow then Easter egg hunt on Sunday.

Fedupbuyer · 14/04/2022 09:07

My 2 have chickenpox so we have been stuck in then house, the weather has been rubbish though.

Forevergold2838 · 14/04/2022 09:07

TeenPlusCat I know there's never a good time for it but right over Easter weekend is shit isn't it. DH both worked through the pandemic, DC went to school the whole time and we catch it now 😤

TheChosenTwo · 14/04/2022 09:17

We’ve been away since the weekend, just home now. Today I’m taking 2 of the dc to ikea as one of them wants something and the cleaner is coming so need to get out of the house anyway. Joy!
Tomorrow we are going for a walk with my in-laws and a pub lunch.
Easter weekend, we’ve got family stuff Sunday and Monday.
Next week we are going to see other family and their new baby, we are going to an arcade that the dc have found and want to try out and i think we’ll get down to the beach. Ds also wants to go swimming.
Dh is working the whole time so it’s down to me to provide entertainment/transport through the holidays!

QueenofLouisiana · 14/04/2022 09:18

Two teacher household, so all about life admin this week. Hair cuts, dentist, dog nail trim, dropping off Easter eggs to nephews.

Road trip to look at university towns that are too far away to do in a weekend is planned. We will be living out of travelodges for 6 days as we tour the North and West of England.

DeathMetalMum · 14/04/2022 09:28

We also have covid. I started end of last week dp just started dc negative so far. Dp took DC's out locally a couple of times. We had to cancel plans with family last weekend and will have to for this weekend too.
While it's a bit rubbish its the holidays, the weather is okay so I'm hoping to get on with a few gardening activities and the DC's will enjoy helping.

HelenaJustina · 14/04/2022 09:32

@TheChosenTwo mine are gunning for an IKEA trip, for some reason perceived as a massive treat!

So far; DC1 went swimming with a friend, DC2 has done as escape room with some friends from primary and did a rugby camp yesterday, DC3 had a private gymnastics lesson, DC4 has been up to the ponies every day. And I worked Tuesday (supposed to be term time only). Not bad for 3 days in! Seeing friends for a long walk today then the next few days will be taken up with the Easter Triduum, DC will be altar serving at all the Masses.

Seeing family on Saturday but nothing planned for next week yet!

PremiumMember1 · 14/04/2022 09:34

Rubbish. First week and family are staying but we've used all our money feeding them as was expecting them to chip in Angryso no money for days out or anything.
Feel like I've failed as a parent.

TeenPlusCat · 14/04/2022 10:05

@Forevergold2838 It isn't too bad timing really as it means DD won't miss any more college (attendance low due to MH), and I feel I can collapse legitimately. On the other hand all the appointments we had lined up have had to be postponed which is a pain. The worst bit is not being able to visit my parents who are old.

Forevergold2838 · 14/04/2022 10:11

TeenPlusCat that's true actually, guilt free time off is not to be sniffed at! I'm just disappointed that we've had to cancel yet another holiday, just can't catch a break-literally 😄 hope you all get well soon.

reluctantbrit · 14/04/2022 10:12

We just came back from a week away, a very much needed break.

The rest is DD doing her remaining homework (thank you secondary school), we see & Juliet tomorrow and meet friends.

Oh, and sorting out the washing....

Lovemusic33 · 14/04/2022 10:15

We haven’t left the house, dd2 came down with covid last Friday and then I came down with it Sunday. Everything we had planned this week has been put on hold.

Silverbirch2 · 14/04/2022 10:20

Oh a mixed bag everyone! Yes we're doing Easter egg hunt on Sunday too- nearly forgot!

Sometimes I feel I need to take kids out and entertainment everyday but that just adds to my stress! So trying to do less (also save money!) So a few parks/ bike rides/garden days I think whilst I try to work sort house and paint it. DH also wfh so basically is just in the way!

OP posts:
TheChosenTwo · 14/04/2022 11:38

@HelenaJustina I haven’t been for about 20 years and was planning on never again going in my life! But they wanted £40 for delivery and I needed to get out of the house anyway so I’d rather go myself, it’s the principle!!
Anyway, hopefully they’ll also decide they never want to visit ever again too Grin
It’s only half an hour away I suppose…

SunflowerSmith · 14/04/2022 12:12

I finished work 10 minutes ago and we are going to our caravan later, not sure whether we'll stay for the whole of next week or come back early, depends on the weather.

Kids have been great, really getting along which is unusual, just hope it lasts...

Comedycook · 14/04/2022 12:18

Pretty crap. My teenager doesn't leave the house...my younger DD is bored and would love him to come out with us. It's pretty much just me and her and I think she's fed up of me. My house is a tip but every time I clean or tidy someone comes along as wrecks it. Dh is WFH. Quite honestly I cant wait till they all bugger off to school and the office. Oh and even worse I have to visit my in laws this weekend
