My teenagers say it and now my husband said it! Might have to punch him in the face! I hate it!
It really gets me angry. I cringe when I hear it.

I like it. It's usually said in a good humoured, light-hearted way. Nice when people own up to something rather than make an excuse.

It is colloquial, though... I wouldn't write it in an essay or anything formal.

I dislike the expression I think it sounds infantile. However, it’s better than never admitting to doing anything wrong, ever which seems very popular these days.
