I'm mid 30s and haven't ever broken a bone.

I completely shattered my ankle aged 22 years .It has completely impacted my life . I have had multiple surgeries because of it. I have also broken my nose , a finger and a few toes in separate injuries

isitnormaltoforget · 12/04/2022 17:03

Leg and foot - left leg when I was 7 (tripped in the hallway), right foot when I was 20 (fell downstairs on NYE, totally sober) .

Tbh the foot didn’t hurt much at all, was just awkward . The leg was bloody sore though more so because the OOH doctor at the time didn’t believe it was actually broken, and forced me to walk on it to prove his point .

Broke my toes a few years ago when I ran over my foot with a wheelchair . That was painful doing a 12 hour shift the next morning .

Broke my humerus at shoulder and elbow falling off a bus last month. Had it pinned and longing for my arm back.

Yes twice! Latest was earlier today. Both times I tripped.

I always used to say I had never broken a bone. It's very easy though, you just need to go arse over tit.

Sitting here feeling sorry for myself! Sad

AudTheDeepMinded · 12/04/2022 17:43

Suspected broken toes a couple of times, and then 6 years ago broke my shoulder at the age of 40. Flipping inconvenient with an EBF 3-month old baby.

Vampirethriller · 12/04/2022 17:53

Little finger
Cheekbone
Ankle
Bit of the top of my foot cracked
Nose
Rib
Tailbone
Lower jaw both sides

DeadButDelicious · 12/04/2022 17:59

Broke my wrist when I was about 8, broke my finger, ribs and toe in my late teens/early (all separate incidents, I'm not that unlucky 😂😂) and my ankle in my late 30's. That one was a doozy, 3 places I had to have it pinned back together and was bed bound for 9 weeks. Zero out of ten do not recommend.

wobblyweasel · 12/04/2022 18:36

Managed to make it to my late 40s without a break, and then my silly dog decided to pull me over and I broke my ankle!

MayMorris · 12/04/2022 18:49

Nothing until I got to 49. Then 3 fractures in 5 years including elbow, ankle and foot.
All were falls
I’ve always been prone to falling over- constantly had bruises and scrapes as a child. Even as an adult if out for a walk if anyone as going to trip and fall or stumble even then it was me. But no breaks at all up to 49 despite some really bad ones and bad sprains
So the menopause has kicked in…I clearly now break much more easily and when I trip now it scares me. Last fall I had I nearly fainted with shock because of my fear of fractures now. I am only 58 so it’s not good.

MayMorris · 12/04/2022 18:51

Oh, and I now also have an Achilles rupture….from anther fall…they won’t fix it due to my age ..I’ve not been able to walk properly and without pain in 11 months now.
That doesn’t help keeping mobile, balance and strength up.

weegiemum · 12/04/2022 19:06

Broke my collar bone age 2, falling out of bed!

Broke and dislocated my ankle age 44, needing quite significant surgery and 10 days in hospital. I have a neurological illness which makes me very unsteady on my feet so I'm quite glad that in 10 years that's my only break.

meow1989 · 12/04/2022 19:16

Yes but not until I was 26ish - spiral fracture to my fibula. I was most surprised surprised it didn't actually hurt - it was more of an electric shock type reflex when I tried to put weight on it. I was in a forest so someone had to go and find a wheelbarrow to wheel me to civilisation Grin

headspin10 · 12/04/2022 20:04

My aunt fell down the stairs with me when I was 18 months, she broke her wrist and I broke my leg.

OldTinHat · 12/04/2022 20:08

Spine, coccyx, fingers, toes. Coccyx twice! Not all on the same day btw 😆

Hellocatshome · 12/04/2022 20:09

Yes lots:
Broke my fingers trapping them in the boot as a young child
Broke my nose by getting in the way of a cricket ball
Broke my ribs crashing into a tree while skiing
Broke my foot and ankle in a motorbike accident
Broke my elbow falling off a pedal bike
This makes me sound really clumsy but I dont actually think I am unusually clumsy probably just unlucky.

OldTinHat · 12/04/2022 20:10

Oh, and my nose. When my ddog tripped me up and I headbutted the kitchen worktop as I fell.

ToothGrinder · 12/04/2022 20:11

Should imagine it's much more common as you become elderly. Along with all the other many delights of that time of life.

I've broken an arm, several toes and a collar bone. Not all at the same time.

Atmywitsend29 · 12/04/2022 20:17

I'm 30, I've never broken my own bones.
Had a wrist broken my a patient, and my nose broken twice by an ex-boyfriend.
Almost broke my knee crashing a motorbike but got away with soft tissue damage Grin

wonkylegs · 12/04/2022 20:38

Lots but never had a cast
2 fingers (trying to be a goalie)
3 toes (2 different incidents)
My nose twice (second break straightened the kink caused by the first so kinda a good thing - both caused by the same brother)
My shoulder (in a incident involving alcohol, a shopping trolley and a tree - I wasn't drinking but my friends were)

CMOTDibbler · 12/04/2022 20:42

I hadn't broken anything until I was 38 and then I broke 9 in one go

Primrosefields · 12/04/2022 21:15

2 toes at once when I fell down a flight of stairs and toes hit the hinge part of the open doorframe.
Another toe when I tried stepping over our lazy dog and he waited till I was one leg each side of his body then he decided to get up. Knocked me off balance and my toe found another open doorframe. Dog just looked at me then went and lay back down in the spot he just got up from.

Birdkin · 12/04/2022 21:15

Broke my coccyx. It was fucker because there’s not really much you can do about it. Still hurts sometimes!

FluffMagnet · 12/04/2022 21:17

Broke my wrist just 2 days ago, slipping on grass and landing back on my hand. 4th time I've done that to my wrists, although first 3 times were by the age of 15. DH went on about having never broken a bone ... and then completely smashed up his arm and elbow, requiring two surgeries and a lot of metalwork, whilst we were on our honeymoon. Poor guy still laments missing out on all the lovely food at our fancy hotel!

INeedNewShoes · 12/04/2022 21:34

I’m 39 and have had more than my fair share: Dislocated thumb (requiring surgery as wouldn’t pop back); tip of my elbow chipped off; minor wrist fracture just meaning a cast for weeks; Metatarsals (stress fractures); really horrible elbow fracture needing 2 surgeries.

Lacdepassy · 12/04/2022 21:41

My bones were completely intact until I fell over a couple of years skateboarding. Broke my wrist. Very quickly in seperate occasions I then broke my rib, coccyx, toe then rib again. Confused
