Where’s a good place to rent in Manchester for early twenties?

My niece will be working between the Christie and St Marys and two of them are looking. I’m shocked it’s London prices. They’ve just graduated so don’t want anywhere that’s too studenty but still with a social life. It’s along time since I’ve lived in Manchester infact, the Hacienda was the place to be and I suspect that’s long gone 😀 what area would you say is lively good value and about 30 mins commute either way? Thanks!! Would she be better sharing with more than one person?

If they wanted to be really close to both hospitals, this cottage looks just the thing.

Didabury, City Centre apartment or Chorlton

Chorlton is expensive. Maybe Firswood? Plenty of house shares/flat shares there. Public transport to the hospitals from there isn't the best though. But quite close by car/taxi although parking is terrible at both hospitals. Stretford is cheaper than Chorlton, and is not too far away so they could still access Chorlton for bars/restaurants (Stretford doesn't have as much going on although is getting lots of investment).

Anywhere on or near one of the number 40-something bus routes will be pretty accessible for both hospitals as all those buses go up and down the main roads past both hospitals.

Or the 111 bus route (goes right past St Mary's and would be a short walk to Christie) West Didsbury/Burton Road area would be good for the 111 bus if there is anything in their price range (lots of bars, restaurants, popular area for socialising but I have no idea on rental prices there)
