Are mirrors at night a bit spooky

I have always had this fear of looking into a mirror at night, I think it's due to watching totally inappropriate horror films at a young age in the 80s Confused I am now approaching 40 and just had to use the bathroom in the night and have realised how completely daft it is to have to avoid looking at the mirror and run away quickly in the middle of the night Blush

Anyone else convinced that if you look in a mirror at night Bloody Mary or some other kind of awful ghost will appear over your shoulder BlushGrin

We have mirrored wardrobes in our bedroom so best I don’t watch any dodgy horror movies!

Yes I am always terrified when I look up there will be someone behind me. NEVER look in a mirror at night.

@Malibuismysecrethome

I was staying with my mum and sisters in a caravan one Easter. It was on a cliff and a really stormy night. My mum started to make a drink and then screamed, there was a man staring in at us.
Who was he?!

Yeah. I don't look in mirrors in the dark. I'm just too worried that there'll be something in the mirror that isn't in the room Confused

I've told this story before.... Years ago we stayed in a holiday cottage which was owned by a very quirky pop video director. My sisters children had rooms at one end of the cottage, my sister her friend, ds2 and I were in the other end. In the room my sis and her friend was in was a stained glass window of Jesus being crucified...
Unfortunately ds2 insisted on having the landing light on all night so sis and her friend had Jesus illuminated in their room all night. The next morning sis got a roll of sellotape and the Sunday supplements and covered the window up.. If I remember correctly she left it covered up when we left!

I don't usually get spooked by mirrors but around 10 years ago DH and I stayed at my nan's and in the room was a full length mirror propped up against the bedside table which was facing our bed.
That night I was absolutely petrified and didn't sleep a wink. It absolutely felt as though someone was watching us.
In the morning I said to DH that I slept terribly and he said I know it was the mirror it felt like there was something in the room with us.
The next night we insisted it was taken out and the bad vibe was gone.

You can't just leave it at that!

No mirrors in my house other than the bathrooms.

I have said Bloody Mary 3 times in the mirror though because I'm a muppet who likes scaring myself . Anyway she didn't turn up. Got ghosted by a ghost.

Awwh, I'm sure she was genuinely busy Apocalypse.

I rushed to lock the door. I flew across the room after seeing that my mum had seen a man staring in. My mum had just pointed and screamed “there’s a man”. It was in the days well before mobile phones and I didn’t want to go out to the phone box a couple of hundred yards away. There was no one else staying on the site that we had seen. It was Little Switzerland or the Warren at Folkestone (can’t remember) but we were terrified all night. The next morning I went outside and round to the window he had been looking into and as we were on a gradient he would have been very tall to be looking in.

My dressing table mirror had to be covered at night as a child or I wouldn’t sleep. I was an early reader and read a ghost story when I was about 5 in the paper about a haunted mirror. My door had to be propped open at night as well, I was terrified of being shut in.

@ApocalypseNowt - she really needs to get an answer service doesn't she:

'Hello, you've reached Bloody Mary. Sorry I can't come to your mirror right now, but I'm busy murdering teens elsewhere. Please leave a message after the scream and I'll get back to you when you're least expecting it... ARRGGGGGHHHHHH. Beep...'
