Spa break recommendations

toastofthetown · 05/04/2022 17:48

Currently wanting to book a spa break for my husband's birthday and I was looking to see if anyone has any spa recommendations. We are in the West Midlands so a spa around this area would be ideal, but would be willing to travel (especially to South East as we could tie that in with visiting friends). I'm looking for a spa which has on-site accommodation and restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

Book the hotel rooms at center PARC's? I love the spa. Obviously you could do Chewton glen either, nice food, but the service was poor.

Whilst not a spa by name, the newly built Tawny Hotel has private outdoor spa baths on your room’s decking, and outdoor pool, range of spa treatments, and a stunning, highly regarded restaurant.
It’s a spa break in every way except the name of the place thetawny.co.uk/

MinnieMountain · 06/04/2022 19:13

Hoar Cross Hall. I’d choose it over Ragdale.

I got married a couple of years back at Cowley Manor they have a beautiful Spa. I am also in the West Mids and lots of people I know love Hoar Cross Hall.

Bells3032 · 06/04/2022 19:40

If your budget will stretch then pennyhill Park or champneys. Luton hoo, Hanbury Manor and sopwell House also do spa breaks also expensive but not as much as the previous too

guhjof · 06/04/2022 19:45

Thanks for all of your suggestions, lots for me to research. I’d seen the Tawny Hotel before and thought it looked amazing, but hadn’t realised about the facilities so that’s very interesting. I should have said that Moddershall Oaks was one of my favourite spas, but I feel that their food has gone massively downhill recently (and lurking on Tripadvisor doesn’t reassure me that anything has changed since I visited), but their outdoor spa area is beautiful.

I’ve also heard a lot about the newly renovated Buxton Spa, and I’m curious about that, because it looks lovely there and Buxton is a nice town.

I’d recommend The Bank House Hotel & Spa
We got married here last August and it was incredible!
The spa is good and they offer a wide range of treatments too.

TheTonEffect · 07/04/2022 11:52

The Buxton Spa was amazing but the hotel wasn't well managed and felt a bit sterile. That was 6 months ago so things may have improved, maybe see what the reviews say.

countdowntonap · 07/04/2022 18:36

The food at Moddershall certainly has terribly downhill lately - and was still poor a couple of weeks ago unfortunately.

SummaLuvin · 08/04/2022 17:32

Modershall was the first spa I went to and I always raved about it. I thought the facilities were great, wonderful treatments, and the phenomenal food was a HUGE cherry on top. However, the food has become so drab and lacklustre, and I feel the indoor spa could do with an update, that my loyalty is waining.

I have been to Sopwell House, and the spa was amazing, but for the price I thought service was pretty dreadful the whole two day stay and it did put a dampener on things.

I have heard good things about Shrigley Hall and Breedon Priory, does anyone here have experience with either?
