Spa break recommendations

Currently wanting to book a spa break for my husband's birthday and I was looking to see if anyone has any spa recommendations. We are in the West Midlands so a spa around this area would be ideal, but would be willing to travel (especially to South East as we could tie that in with visiting friends). I'm looking for a spa which has on-site accommodation and restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

Fairlawns in Walsall. Lovely hotel and spa, I paid just for a day package and got food all day too

Careys manor in the New Forest is fabulous.

You can’t beat Hoar Cross Hall. Especially the rooms with the rooftop jacuzzi.

Like another poster on here I was very loyal to Moddershall Oaks for many years - the spa and the food were always so very good. I returned a couple of months ago and found the experience a little disappointing, the food in particular was a massive letdown.
Has anyone on here been to either The Three Horseshoes at Leek or the spa at Alton Towers?

Ragdale Hall for sure!

Another vote for Ragdale Hall! I had a 2-night stay there and felt so refreshed afterwards that I felt like I'd been on holiday for a week. Loved every minute of it.

Robin60 The ‘spa’ at Alton Towers reminded me of a leisure centre with some spa facilities. Not luxurious in any way. It was very very cheap, so I went for half a day - but I wouldn’t return. The changing room is tiny and unpleasant.

@MinnieMountain Hoar Cross Hall and Ragdale seem to be coming up the most here. What about HCH makes you pick it above Ragdale?

Whitney168 · 09/04/2022 09:15

Another vote for Ragdale (and another who'd be interested to hear why HCH outranks it for PP).

Come down to the beautiful Cotswolds !

Calcot Hotel and Spa, just outside Tetbury, is wonderful .

MinnieMountain · 09/04/2022 09:56

@SummaLuvin the spa has more rooms and the grounds are nicer. I found Ragdale better for a day. Although a plus of Ragdale for me is that it has a proper 20/25 meter pool.

SummaLuvin · 09/04/2022 11:10

Thanks @MinnieMountain I haven't been to either so good to hear the plus points for each.

@MinnieMountain Does the spa having more rooms means the spa feels busier? One of the biggest advantage to staying at a spa for is that the mornings and the evening tend to be nice and quiet.

No idea OP. I meant it more from the point of it’s a bonus as there’s more variety.

Hoar Cross Hall is stunning. Spa is gorgeous. Food is very good. Get to dress up at night for your evening meal and staff are great.
