Here's the little shit darling.

In a nutshell. She - very, very fussy eater. Also has HCM so needs to keep her weight up really. Indoor cat, almost 13 now.

Me - typically anxious to please, goes to nth degree to try all kinds of foods on her and managed to find ONE she'll eat for more than a month. Sheba perfect portions tuna in gravy. Which is quite expensive, of course. Obviously, none of the Sheba perfect portions flavours are acceptable.

But I can't get it at the moment and had to order some from Ebay and it's yet to arrive. So I have a cupboard full of just about every bloody other brand and type of similar/different but not too different/very different/same and or different flavour of cat food I could find. Tins, pouches, pots, sachets.......
She will eat the dry food which vet has told me to keep to a minumum as it tends to constipate her and then she won't eat....

I've even cooked fresh chicken breasts. Nope, she does the cautious approach, mildy interested sniff and circle, gaze into the mid distance, tiny nibble and wander off thing.

AAAaarrgghhhh!!!!

Does anyone want a cat? Or me?

Ohhh she's gorgeous!

And my money is on her Grin

tired17 · 03/04/2022 18:45

Cat will win, no question. You'll end up driving miles just to locate the favoured food

JurassicPerks · 03/04/2022 18:50

She'll win.
BUT, fussy DC - who used to eat the gravy and leave the meat usually eats blink.
At a trial box for £1 it might be worth trying?

The cat 😸 wins

NCForThis2022 · 03/04/2022 18:52

My fussy eater will currently only accept Royal Canin. And his vet backed him up!! I feel your pain.

Motnight · 03/04/2022 18:54

Op won't come back to the thread for a while. She's driving a 50 mile round trip to buy the proper cat food 😬

bellac11 · 03/04/2022 18:56

Can you mix the dry food with water so its not dry but she still likes the flavour?

Chikapu · 03/04/2022 19:02

Have you tried warming one of the other foods up a little, my fussy puss wouldn't touch some expensive Canagan until I warmed it then he ate every scrap!

SkankingWombat · 03/04/2022 19:12

I know you've tried lovingly home-cooked chicken, but have you tried KFC? That stuff is kitty crack. Our DCat quite likes a bit of home cooked chicken, but would happily sell all of us and my (her) favourite blanket for some KFC in her bowl. She's a fairly well behaved cat normally, would never try to swipe food, and the worst we get is Puss In Boots-style eyes at dinner time, but on the rare occasion we have KFC she will try to raid our plates whilst we're still eating from them...

FromOurHatsToOurFeet · 03/04/2022 19:22

I don't blame her, those Perfext Portions are like crack. I got some for our old girl as a treat and she failed to recognised that they were 1. A treat and 2. Came from a supermarket I go to once in a blue moon. It took a short period of adjustment for her to go back to her ordinary food.

And her ordinary food? She was all for Whiskers 11+ jelly (not gravy). So I bought a massive bulk box. Then she decided she didn't like it. So I bought a trial of Felix AGAIL, which she liked, so I bought a box of 120 pouches. Which she ate about 50 of and then decided was awful. So I tried her on Sheba. Loved it. Bought a massive box. Can you tell what happened next?

dontmesswithmymoxie · 03/04/2022 19:31

LOOK AT THIS

I heated one of the other pouches of tuna in gravy (not Sheba of course),
This is her just now. On my bed. So now she doesn't have to come downstairs....

@Chikapu I've never heard of Canagan, I order from Zooplus usually.

@FromOurHatsToOurFeet the thing about big mixed boxes is the stand off we get into about the ONE acceptable flavour that's never available on it's own or it's feckin expensive to buy like that.

I can't believe that I'm now deliveroo-ing her bloody dinner to MY bed!!

Never thought of mixing the dry food with a bit of water but I'll try anything now.

Tried turkey? Ours tirns his nose up at chicken(and most chicken cat foods) but will devour turkey

🤣🤣🤣🤣
GameofPhones · 03/04/2022 19:49

Try putting some outside so she can 'discover' it. Animals sometimes prefer to eat food they have found for themselves. Or, in the case of cats, probably 'al fresco'.

Moonface123 · 03/04/2022 19:50

One thing l know for sure is that you will break before the cat does, esp if he's anything like my stubborn bugger.

lunar1 · 03/04/2022 19:58

The overlord will always win, at least mine has for the last 19 years.

Chikapu · 03/04/2022 20:40

I order from Petstop as they usually have offers on, Sir Sushi costs me a bloody fortune!

SummerSazz · 03/04/2022 20:46

Mine can be a fussy bugger but tuna in spring water is always a hit

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/04/2022 20:49

Don’t worry my senior girl eats on the bed too. It’s the spare bed but they’ve got us over a barrel.

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 03/04/2022 20:50

I can't believe that I'm now deliveroo-ing her bloody dinner to MY bed!!

Wait until you start hand feeding her..!

FelicityBeedle · 03/04/2022 20:50

I’m afraid to say I’m awful, he occasionally goes off his food but I don’t change it and he eventually gives in. I know I’m an awful cat slave

tedgran · 03/04/2022 20:53

My husband is a retired vet, he says he never had a cat that starved itself to death! Ducks behind sofa!!

catstale · 03/04/2022 20:56

Absolutely absurd to allow your stocks to run so low! Can't you see that fluffy tum needs feeding?
