Heated blanket/throw

Does anyone know how cost effective heated blankets are? What is the hourly electric cost? Quite a few sites have these now so might be handy to pick one up for next winter.

Mine is less than 1p for 8 hours.

It’s this one from Lakeland.

I was given one and gave it back. Electricity induces a magnetic field. It doesn’t seem safe or healthy to wrap your body in a magnet.

Unforgettablefire · 02/04/2022 22:19

Following this with interest everyone seems to be raving about them. Apparently they’re cheap to run. I nearly got one from argos but the cheapest ones they have left are £70.

cataline · 02/04/2022 22:19

I have that husky throw and it's possibly my most favourite thing!

shreddednips · 02/04/2022 22:33

I used to have an electric blanket and it was incredibly cheap to run, about 2p a night I think. It was wonderful and then my cat vomited on it 😞 think it might be time to invest in a new one!

tootiredtospeak · 02/04/2022 22:35

I have one got it on amazon for 30 it's amazing work from home and never need the heating on just that.

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/04/2022 22:36

It is lovely, so soft and cosy, and really warm.

bellac11 · 02/04/2022 22:40

Ive been looking at these lately, but I have a few worries, about sitting on it while on the sofa, how do you wash them, worried about static (we dont have a great deal of stuff in the house which isnt made from natural fibres but all of these are polyester ?)

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 02/04/2022 22:41

I got one from Amazon and it is one of the best things I have ever bought! So worth it, especially when working from home!

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/04/2022 22:43

@bellac11 you don’t sit on them, you put them over you like a blanket. You wash in the machine, the electric component in clips.

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/04/2022 22:44

*clips off.

This doesn't sound right at all. Are there any scientists here who could discuss this?
MyDcAreMarvel · 02/04/2022 22:44

@bellac11 never noticed any static either.

You sit under it rather than on it.

They wash fine. You just uncouple the power lead to put them in the machine!

Which one please?
Sapphirejane · 02/04/2022 22:46

@Cirelle you are not ready to hear about the Earth’s magnetic field then…

altforvarmt · 02/04/2022 22:46

I love mine, it's so comforting given that I'm in a poorly-insulated, draughty, single-glazed house and being careful with the heating.

It's never been staticky, though I've been quite static-afflicted in the past (had to carry a key to touch surfaces just to stop myself getting electric shocks).

It detaches from its cable so it can be washed in the washing machine.

If you have a mobile phone, this is neither here nor there in comparison.
bonfireheart · 02/04/2022 22:49

I got mine from Lidl and am on the sofa with it now - no static or magnetic fields!

MarthaJonesPhone · 02/04/2022 22:53

I've got the Cosi Home heated throw, it's wonderful. In the evening I can turn the heating off much earlier without feeling chilly. Love it, so glad I got it.

dustydriver · 02/04/2022 22:54

I LOVE mine and hardly need the heating with it! Its made a massive difference to how comfortable I am at home in the winter.

So I take it you have no mobile phone? 🙄
