What’s Happening In Your House?

Chilled out day so far, although I am sitting in a very untidy kitchen. Plus the surfaces need doing & the dishwasher needs emptying. I have placed the broom with the dustpan & brush at the bottom of the stairs to remind me that I have to sweep the bathroom floor. Really suffering with severe leg pain so everything is an effort 😥 DH has stepped up but he works quite long hours some days. He’s cooking one of our favs tonight ( sausage pasta). DD13 is watching tv. She’s school refusing & we’re finding it very difficult to motivate her. She does go out & meet friends but refuses to walk anywhere or take a bus.
Just had one of our bunnies in. They are an endless source of joy for me. Can’t imagine life without them now 🐇🐇🐇🐇
Popped out to the butchers earlier for pork loin steaks & was amazed at the stock they have. So lucky to have such good shops locally. I could have got the same product cheaper at Lidl but I like to support small businesses where food hasn’t travelled so far. We will enjoy the steaks tomorrow with roast potatoes, roast carrots, savoy cabbage, sweetcorn & pork gravy. Wish I had bought myself some roses at Lidl as they were only £2.29. A lovely assistant made my day. I was buying sherry & joked that I was just about old enough. He replied “ I nearly asked for ID”. I walk with a stick & am overweight so had been feeling pretty crap but his comment really lifted my spirits. I’ve seen him in the store a few times & he’s always lovely.
Not much planned apart from the housework. Might watch a film tonight but more likely to put Greys Anatomy on again.

Ds is away on a field camp this weekend (age 17) so blissfully quiet. Was going to read a novel but spring weather always makes me feel energetic and restless. Will still read an hour later this evening. Tomorrow more washing and a quick pop to Tescos followed by more novel reading before ds returns late afternoon.

ImInStealthMode · 02/04/2022 17:20

Parkrun this morning, then I went to work for a few hours. Came back to a nice clean flat with the 2nd load of washing about to go on the line.

I've just woken up from a nap and can hear DP snoozing away in the other room. Steak, red wine and Peaky Blinders later.

DaphneduM · 02/04/2022 17:26

I'm now sitting enjoying a g and t before doing dinner. It's my daughter's birthday today, so thinking back to that night and day when she was born. A difficult forceps delivery, I count my blessings that she was actually ok. My community midwife said when she read my notes what a terrible time I'd had. The Shropshire scandal has made me realise what a huge lottery giving birth is, still, in the UK. So sorry for all those poor women and babies affected. Absolutely disgraceful.

Been prepping for a Sunday lunch for the birthday girl and her family including my adorable two year old grandson. Made the cauliflower cheese and sausagemeat, sage and onion stuffing in advance, to get ahead for tomorrow. Said grandson will only eat a cheeseburger in a bun and chips - so Granny's got a bit of a juggling act tomorrow in the culinary department!!!!

Have done some laundry, including a nice tablecloth for tomorrow - very glad for a sunny day to get everything dry. While outside I've planted out a couple of carex pendula plants I've grown from a seedhead I picked by the canal. Also done a mini Great Dixter (!!!!) type display of pots on a table out the front - orange/red wallflowers, orange tulips, euphorbia and variegated ivy.

I worked overtime to catch up this afternoon. DH been at work and lovely DD2(13) tidied up and vacuumed living room. Just almost made a Mexican chicken traybake for this evening but my stupid disabled legs started to shake too much so again DD2 has come to help and finish it for me.

DD1 (17) left her room twice today and grunted at me both times. I am sick to fucking death of her to be honest.

Watching a film with DH and DD2 this evening but haven't decided which one yet. Pretty sure DD1 will come down for food and then sod off back to her room. I give in!

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 02/04/2022 18:50

I’m tidying up and about to prepare nibbles for guests tonight (wine and nibbles evening). The kitchen is still a mess and I need to tackle it. I didn’t have time for a shower so my hair is lank and I don’t have any makeup on.

ImAvingOops · 02/04/2022 18:53

Had lovely long lie in this morning and a quiet day reading and being on MN. Have made a chilli for dinner and my sons and dh are watching football. I should be feeling relaxed but instead I feel restless and am fighting the urge to do diy/tidy the house.

ShinyPikachu · 02/04/2022 19:07

Covid here too. Waiting on a takeaway and watching footy.

Cassimin · 02/04/2022 19:12

Just put tv on, watching grease.
Made courgette and cheddar soup so having that with a bagel.
Washing on line
Son is gaming
Daughter deciding wether to go out or stay in.
Can’t believe it’s past 7 and still so light, feels like lunchtime.

Iamblossom · 02/04/2022 19:22

Quiet weekend here as I am still feeling bleurgh after getting covid 2 weeks ago, still testing positive and have a head cold in the evenings. 🙄

Did yoga this morning, have made a lemon cheesecake which we will eat tomorrow, and had a manicure and a pedicure this afternoon.

Ds2 (15) is at a party and ds1 (17) is at work and then picking him up, result! Dh is watching football and also organising marinating the pork ribs we are having for dinner tomorrow. One of my absolute favourite meals! And I am reading. Bought a series of 10 novels on a recco from MN, by Jodi Taylor, absolutely loving them.

AdoraBell · 02/04/2022 19:27

Lazy day here, made coffee for breakfast. Had mushrooms on toast for breakfast, pottered in the garden, looks like I’ve lost 4 plants to frost. Did tinned soup for lunch, walk to local shop with DH. Just taken pasta bake out of the oven.

That’s about all.

Faevern · 02/04/2022 19:40

DP doing a major house repair he’s been on it all day non stop. So I’m being really nice and have done all his washing and todays housework, in between spending ages on the net looking for activities for the DGCs over Easter. Done some of the jigsaw we doing at the moment, now having a glass of wine, few minutes on here. DP having pizza for tea and I’ve got some home made chilli out the freezer. Watching the last kingdom later. Lazy day and I’m nice and relaxed.

OldTinHat · 02/04/2022 19:41

I'm still flat out on the floor since this afternoon when I went to renew my residents parking permit. It was £45 for six months when I moved in three years ago. It was £75 when I renewed in September. Its £99.50 for six months today!!!

I collapsed in shock and am still on the floor. I'm wondering whether to call 111 or take myself to the vets and just be put down. I couldn't afford to heat or eat as it was but I'm watching Masterchef on my phone as I lie here so hopefully will absorb some calories! 😄

Iamblossom · 02/04/2022 19:45

Forgot to say happy birthday @VampireMoney💐

Iamblossom · 02/04/2022 19:46

I'm having mushrooms for toast for my breakfast tomorrow, you have inspired me

VampireMoney · 02/04/2022 19:56

@Iamblossom thank you Smile

peaceanddove · 02/04/2022 20:03

Had a lovely lie-in. Then headed into town for my holiday wax, am now totally hairless from the navel down! Afterwards, bought stack loads of holiday related stuff and lots of summery clothes for DH. Ended up with red grooves across my palms from carrying so many bags!

Home now and too tired to empty all the bags. DH is doing something techy with his laptop and DD2 is out with friends. I'm just chilling with a cup of coffee and doing a bit of needlepoint. Early night I think.

MysweetAudrina · 02/04/2022 20:20

Getting over covid. We all got it. I managed an online yoga class and a walk with the dogs up the mountains. Beds changed and just showered and changed into loungewear. Kids are making food in the kitchen so waiting until they're done before I do something for me and dh.

sophienelisse · 02/04/2022 20:39

I think my Dd may have covid I'm going to sleep in her room with her tonight and watch a bit of telly with her.

Just ordered a Greek for my DH abs I will eat mine tomorrow. Absolutely shattered.

SilverOtter · 02/04/2022 20:45

We are camping in our garden!😂 We had pizza in the tent earlier and are now snuggled in our sleeping bags.

DogsAndGin · 02/04/2022 20:48

Lie in.
Quick tidy and one load of laundry.
Went on a walk with the dog in a field.
Watched the football and tried to google some new books.
Sorted out the finance spreadsheet.
Paid some bills.
Went to the pub and only had 1.5 pints.
Went to the shop and got some cheese and wine.
DH got chips and a sausage from the chips.
Came home and put the fire on.
Watched TV.
About to eat some battenburg cake!

Excellent day. 10/10

I didn’t think we’d done much today, but I feel quite accomplished now that I’ve written it all down! Grin

Faevern · 02/04/2022 20:54

@SilverOtter my DP does that with the grandchildren, they love it 🏕

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 02/04/2022 20:58

DS2 is re-heading a hammer. DH is on the phone to DMIL. DS1 is gaming upstairs. I'm enjoying a glass or two of rose and MNing

DDivaStar · 02/04/2022 21:01

Finally sat with my feet up and a glass of wine after taking dd to a swimming party, showers dinner etc.

Looking forward to a concert tomorrow which we've been waiting 2 years for as its been postponed 3 times through covid.....

MrsDThomas · 02/04/2022 21:11

Kids in their rooms, DH watching tv, im on the sofa lying on my back with wind, had curry for tea, im gripey now.

Im gonna walk down the lane to try to get rid of the wind with a torch in hand.

No one around to hear it💨

Changeychangey · 02/04/2022 21:55

I have no idea what's happening in my house as I'm not there. Dh is on call in his rural practice area this weekend (he's a GP) so he and I are holed up in a nice wee b&b and he's only been called twice, lovely quiet weekend! He very very deliberately works about an hour from home, after years of living in his previous practice area he likes to keep work and home separate! Can't say I blame him. I didn't much like being "Mrs Doctor".

So ds (20) and dd2 (18) are at home with the dog. As long as he's walked and the kitchen tidy-ish when I get home tomorrow I'll be happy enough!
