Slippers on the sofa?

Do you wear/allow slippers or indoor shoes to be worn on the sofa? We didn't but now the puppy steals them to play with if you leave them on the floor. So I'm a reluctant wearer.

OP posts:

Shoes off in my house. No big deal.

LesLavandes · 29/03/2022 17:59

Plus nobody wears slippers

Feilin · 29/03/2022 17:59

You'd hate me. I wear shoes all the time.

MuggleMadness · 29/03/2022 18:02

I do, but my sofas are old & need replacing (just trying to get the decorating done first!!). On the new ones, probably not. You need to mind the soles if they're rubber, they can wear away the fabric/carpet if you always sit in one place. (Well they do it anyway, it's just more noticible if you sit in the same place continually).

Crimsonripple · 29/03/2022 18:03

I wear slippers and yep on the sofa!

Hangingtrousers · 29/03/2022 18:05

Of course. I want warm feet and to stretch out.

Caspianberg · 29/03/2022 18:06

Yes. Shoes off, slippers on household

3catsandcounting · 29/03/2022 18:12

Of course people wear slippers! Hmm
Yes, I wear slippers or socks on the sofa. I have several pairs of slippers. I also have big thick-soles ones that I wear to take the bins out. Grin

Akite · 29/03/2022 18:16

I do and my Dh scowls at me 😆 he takes them off if he puts his feet up. Life's too short to worry about stuff like that.

TooManyPJs · 29/03/2022 18:16

Of course why would you take them off?

SwelegantParty · 29/03/2022 18:18

I wear the same shoes all day, indoors and out, and happily put my feet on the sofa. It does have a washable throw on it though.

babywalker56 · 29/03/2022 18:33

Outdoor shoes taken off at the door (same for guests)

Inside slippers are never worm on the sofa. If we want to put our feet up then we take our slippers off. Socks can obvs be put on the sofa

Nanalisa60 · 29/03/2022 18:39

Slipper are fine but they never go outside, I like cosy socks in the evening.

What do your guests wear on their feet in your house ?

Humour me please but what the fudge is the difference between slippers worn inside and socks also worn inside which makes one acceptable on the sofa but the other not?

Slippers are worn on the sofa here, why wouldn't they be. They are probably cleaner then socks which have been stuffed into shoes all day being on the sofa.

babywalker56 · 29/03/2022 18:52

@Alliswells their socks?

babywalker56 · 29/03/2022 18:53

@Beees the slippers we wear in the house are sliders instead of normal comfy slippers. It just doesn’t make sense to put sliders on our nice sofa’s. Socks are allowed but no one wear socks in the house anyway. Do what works for your household lol no need to sound so aggressive

PinkSyCo · 29/03/2022 18:54

Umm I do. I take them off when putting my feet up though OP, just because it’s much more comfortable.

shivermetimbers77 · 29/03/2022 18:54

Yes slippers on the sofa: that’s the whole point of slippers IMO.. they can be worn anywhere inside because they haven’t been worn outside .

Not aggressive at all but it makes absolutely no sense what so ever. What's the point in having slippers if you then have to take them off?

Also what would happen if a guest visited your house in sandles? Are bare feet allowed on the sofa?

SpringIntoChaos · 29/03/2022 18:57

Currently sat here with my lovely slippers up on the sofa.

I'm confused as to why people say no slippers on furniture?? They are clean...so what's the issue?

I actually have an old pair of slippers that I keep by the front door for emergency trips to the bin, saves putting on boots or doing up trainers! But they get changed for indoor slippers as soon as I get indoors again. Don’t have a dog so indoor slippers off when feet are on the sofa.

(By the back door I have clogs for back garden outings.)

babywalker56 · 29/03/2022 19:03

@Beees as I said, you do what works for YOUR household…

We wear sliders in the house because we don’t want to walk around the house bare feet. Not too sure what’s so hard to understand about that. We might drop food on the floor in the kitchen and then accidentally step on it. I wouldn’t want these sliders on any furniture. No one in my house sits with their feet on the sofa anyway so not too difficult to keep our sliders on the floor whilst we sit down.

Guests can get given sliders to wear but they usually bring socks with them if they’re wearing sandals. Every person and every culture does thing differently. Just because I don’t do things how you do them doesn’t mean anything lol

Duchess379 · 29/03/2022 19:05

Slippers are allowed. I wear slippers to keep my feet warm.

Qwill · 29/03/2022 19:07

My slippers are quite rigid so I find it uncomfortable as I like to sit cross-legged on the sofa. If they’re indoor slippers though, not sure what the problem is?
