How often do you change your bedsheets?

Blackbootswithredribbons · 27/03/2022 14:39

I change my sheets every Sunday, but lately I've noticed that they still seem fresh when they're changed and maybe it's excessive.
What do you do? Would it be grim if I changed to once every two weeks?

Changed once a week (normally a Wednesday), will be twice a week during the summer though.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/03/2022 16:57

Well its been nearly a year since we moved house so I suppose I better get round to it.

Isseywith3witchycats · 27/03/2022 17:02

Winter bottom sheet and pillowcases once a week duvet cover once a fortnight
Summer everything off the bed once a week
pillows admittedly not very often in winter as cant get them dry no tumble dryer in summer when they dry once a fortnight

Never as we have a penis beaker and a special soft sex blanket.

Northernsoullover · 27/03/2022 17:11

I don't actually know. Every 3 - 4 weeks? I am single, I wear ridiculous amounts of clothing to bed and don't get sweaty. I do change my pillowcases once a week though.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/03/2022 17:11

In the old days I think we (well my Mother) moved the top sheet to the bottom and you got a clean top sheet. I think this was a weekly process.

Fizbosshoes · 27/03/2022 17:22

Since joining Mumsnet, I've learned to change them every 15 minutes throughout the night.

🤣🤣🤣

Cherryblossoms85 · 27/03/2022 17:23

When they start smelling.

Purpleavocado · 27/03/2022 17:25

Weekly, I like them to smell fresh

lunar1 · 27/03/2022 17:27

Every Friday, but mostly because I'm trying to make sure my sons aren't revolting when they are released into the world! They change their own before school.

It would be every two weeks if not for that!

Boxowine · 27/03/2022 17:31

Once a week. But I do all the sheets in the house once a week because I wash them in their own load, not mixed with other laundry. Same with towels. If the weather is bad I will wait for a clear day because they are line dried. Six clothespins per sheet. No ironing. Then folded but not stored in their own pillowcase. I have decluttered the linen closet so each bed has two sets of sheets, if I do all of the sheets once a week on the same day it is easier to rotate the linen.

horrayforharoldlloyd · 27/03/2022 17:32

Every hour, on the hour. Anything less is grim.

itssquidstella · 27/03/2022 17:34

Once a fortnight. We live in a flat with limited drying space and I don't like to use the tumble dryer too often (only tumble dry sheets and towels).

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/03/2022 17:34

When the cat lets me. She sleeps on the bed.

@PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn I hope you heat up the copper adequately; grate some soap; add some laundry blue and use a wash board. Anything less is slovenly.

gogohm · 27/03/2022 17:37

Umm when I think of it. About every 2 weeks but I admit it slipsBlush

CambsAlways · 27/03/2022 17:44

Every year

ImFree2doasiwant · 27/03/2022 17:54

My aim is once a fortnight but its often less than that. I'm single, I don't sweat much. I don't care that much either!

Before I was seperated/when the hidden were small it was more often , usually weekly ir more if needed. Husband was quite an oily person children spit up milk etc.

BellyDancer124 · 27/03/2022 18:03
@Blackbootswithredribbons randomly wouldn't work with my day. Wouldn't leave enough time for the hot wash on an eco friendly setting, the starching, drying in sunlight for sterilisation, the pressing, scenting and folding and then standards would slip
This really tickled me hahaha

hennaoj · 27/03/2022 18:06

@MintJulia

I don't have a partner so I sleep one side of the bed in week one and then sleep the other side of the bed in week 2. So every two weeks. Cut my washing by 50% Genius Grin
You can turn the duvet and pillow cases inside out and the fitted sheet upside down so that's 2 more weeks.
Readyforspring · 27/03/2022 18:06

Weekly all 5 beds. Sometimes may be 8 or 9 days. Ie this week would be 8, normally do on a Tuesday but its due to rain. Weds going to be dry so ill leave till weds to save on tumble.

You could sleep in the middle on week 3, and stretch it out another week you know.
ChloeHel · 27/03/2022 18:22

Usually when I can start feeling crusty bits on the sheet.

Every 2 weeks haha.

crispmidnightpeace · 27/03/2022 19:21

@lollipoprainbow

Twice a day ???
I'm sure that was a joke.
user1497787065 · 27/03/2022 19:28
