In trouble for noise from children?

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 20:45

Can you get in trouble for noise from child from next door?
I'm having behavioural problems with my child at the minute
Screaming
Stomping
Is this something I can get in trouble for?
Cos they're putting noise recording equipment in

that's difficult for you and a big worry.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/03/2022 20:55

does yours shout "I am being quiet" at about 50 million decibels when you ask them to use a quiet voice? (it was quieter to not say anything )

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 20:57

Ah no I wish it was that simple I really do

It depends... is the screaming & stopming every night 12:32am - 3:06am?
Is DC using a megaphone at 6am & 11pm for at least an hour daily?
Then they might have a point.

Otherwise, I don't think there is much they can do.

No I wouldn't say it's like this And it's certainly not at those hours I'm so paranoid about everything

No judge in their right mind would punish a family for a child having tantrums. The council would be laughed out of court if they tried.

Beachsidesunset · 16/03/2022 21:09

How do you know about the equipment?

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:13

Cos the police told me

(These neighbours have been harassing us done things to our property, made malicious reports (lies) about us, made my child scared in her own home)
They had an interview with the police about it

.... And now they've put in a noise harassment claim about us.....
I'm so worried

From experience they won’t do fuck all move if you can

Dresslover1950s · 16/03/2022 21:20

Is it noise equipment from the LA?

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:22

Yes

OP posts:
Dresslover1950s · 16/03/2022 21:23

Police can’t do anything it’s a LA matter why didn’t you report them first? Have you retaliated? Has your child got SEN? As by one who complains about children is a low life twat

Dresslover1950s · 16/03/2022 21:23

Won’t do nothing have you been making logs of everything they have done to you?

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:24

I have reported them about all the things they've done
That's what they had the interview for (although there's not enough for the harassment. It's so shit)
No I haven't retaliated
I have started to wonder recently if she might have ADHD but I don't know...

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:27

They only admitted to a public order offence and that was only because we managed to get evidence of it
Denied everything else they've ever done

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:29

(their harassment of us started way before this recent behaviour problems)

Are the neighbours themselves loud? Guessing that they are the recording equipment even if it is turned on (I had it installed in my house at the time) wasn’t even switched on then when it was apparently they ‘didn’t hear anything’ which was lies it’s basically a recorder in a suitcase type box and a microphone which the morons will have to press each time they hear a noise. Please don’t live your life in fear I did for two years and ended up with ptsd and moving 100 miles away. Also please start the assessment process for your daughter as that will go in your favour. My son has autism and we were terrorised because of it and the fact these cunts just didn’t like me 🙄

Dresslover1950s · 16/03/2022 21:31

Bullies deny everything cases like this make me sick that they put people through this shit for what? To get a kick? I don’t understand it

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:36

I don't know
I never in a million years thought any of this would happen
Never crossed my mind
☹️
They're not loud on a day to day basis but he is a very loud person so when he is screaming you can definitely hear him
He can be intimidating and very aggressive

Assuming you are in England any compliant about noise from a neighbour is usually dealt with by environmental health. they will look to determine if the noise levels are over a certain threshold and this is often done by using noise monitoring equipment in the effected persons property. If the monitoring shows noise above certain levels Environmental Health would deem it unreasonable because it would substantially interfere with their use or enjoyment of their home. EH would seek to advise you on how to modify behaviour in the first instance, but could use a notice requiring steps to be undertaken.
However the threshold level is quite high and normal day to day life/ reasonable behaviour shouldn't exceed it.

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:44

I don't know if it's been put in yet
I'm constantly worrying
Constantly thinking about it when she's kicking off
I've never been in trouble with anyone before

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:46

It's like I'm just holding my breath till I get this outcome of the recording thing!

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:47

And I'm worried they'll do something and pretend it's us too cos they've lied about us so much

OP posts:
GeneLovesJezebel · 16/03/2022 21:50

I’d make a diary of when you do make noise, when you’re in and when you’re out, so you can check the noise is really you.

purpleme12 · 16/03/2022 21:52

Ok perhaps you're right actually
I think I'll have to do that ☹️
