Semantle thread 3 is almost full and we don't seem to be running out of steam, so here's a nice new shiny thread for those, like me, who are mad enough to start the new game at Midnight.

The game of Semantle can be found by folowing this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

We tend to use the threads to rant about how we're getting nowhere, celebrate our successes and laugh about the previous day's top 1000 but please, no spoilers. Subtle hints only here; use DMs for more obvious clues.

Well, that was quicker than expected. Just for fun I put in a recent controversial word from another word game popular at the moment, and it was green! Two hops from there and bingo!

Hmmm, I can see that 300 might be helpful, but I would be looking more wide connections than close ones 🤷‍♀️

@MrsElm agora was the "other word" on the day Wordle changed over to New York Times and people had different words.

There are two routes to today's word, I took the more wholesome route, though I've learned a lot of new terminology from the word list!

That being said, the first green word I found was 887 so I can see why it took me a while to get there after that.

My highest word at the moment is 989 - is that a helpful one? I'm going round in circles!

Saw a hint to word I didn’t know, it had a tenuous connection to 998… still got stuck on synonyms though and had to Google! I do think the word is more used in the US (in the less wholesome context). Now off to read the word list and learn something!
