Let me guess.... house belonged to an elderly, no longer very mobile lady who offered room and board to her grandson in exchange for a bit of housekeeping. GS was on acid and brought in his best mate, and together they kept house and updated the property whilst on their various trips. Old lady has now passed and her heirs have ensured vacant possession but cannot be arsed to get the place ready for selling.

I kinda like the crazy bathroom rest not so much. There was a lady artist/designer I saw on TV that covered pretty much every surface in a riot of colour & pattern, I love bright arty things but I'd need to lay in dark room was just too much.

Can imagine living in grim place with old swirly carpet and what looks like polystyrene tiles on ceilings may bring some desperation for bright, happy colours. It looks like needs total renovation anyway.

Recent sold prices for other 3 bed cottage flats nearby are around £80-100k at most so it won't go for a huge amount over asking, considering that most people will want to completely redecorate, recarpet and possibly new kitchen and bathroom.

Not everywhere has seen massive price increases in recent years and some areas have not gone far past 2007 levels.
