Middle name for Callum

Asking on behalf of my SIL since she doesn’t have an account on any forums.
She’s having a baby boy and has her heart set on Callum, but can’t think of a middle name. She says she doesn’t want anything too “out there” or too “old man-ish” (her words, not mine! 😅)
She’s looked at other past threads for middle names for the name Callum, and couldn’t find one she liked. She doesn’t like Jude, Dean, Seth or George.
Her last name begins with a P and is 3 syllables long, if that helps.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thank you

I like James as well. Callum James Patterson (I know you didn't give the actual surname, I'm just trying it out)

Thanks everyone I’ll pass these on!
The surname ends in “i” (with an “e” sound), just to clarify, it’s not Patterson. The last name is Italian 😊

James would be my pick too. I’d spell Calum the Gaelic way though.

Are middle names not normally given for a reason, i.e. a parent or grandparent or close family friend?

It's not obligatory to have a middle name. Lots of people don't.

ThatsNotMyGolem · 01/03/2022 20:52

Best.

Joking.

Callum is such a clunky name. It's going to sound weird with an Italian surname.

Callum Finley

If the parents have an Italian name, how about a nod to his heritage? Vincenzo is nice and means to win or conquer.
Callum means 'dove', I believe so Callum Vincenzo Pirelli (let's just say) would be a nice balanced name: Dove (gentleness) Conquer/ Win (strength) Pirelli.
I do think it needs either a one syllable or three syllable middle name to flow. Names wtih two syllables sound odd.

Thanks all for the suggestions.
The baby’s father’s name is Jay though so unfortunately can’t use that one…

Also Callum sounds fine with this particular last name. Not “clunky” at all. 🤨
It’s the name she likes, and she’s got a personal reason for choosing that as her son’s name.

Alexander would also be nice. I don't think Callum sounds clunky at all.
