Middle name for Callum

loveoflavender · 01/03/2022 19:27

Asking on behalf of my SIL since she doesn’t have an account on any forums.
She’s having a baby boy and has her heart set on Callum, but can’t think of a middle name. She says she doesn’t want anything too “out there” or too “old man-ish” (her words, not mine! 😅)
She’s looked at other past threads for middle names for the name Callum, and couldn’t find one she liked. She doesn’t like Jude, Dean, Seth or George.
Her last name begins with a P and is 3 syllables long, if that helps.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thank you

Another vote for James!

Yotrotro · 01/03/2022 22:06

Callum with LL is supposed to be the surname spelling, first name should be Calum which looks much nicer imo.

Calum Innes
Calum James
Calum Gregor
Calum Scott
Calum Duncan

My son is Callum Mark, but I think Callum James is nice

PureWisdom · 01/03/2022 22:07

Callum Ross

I've now seen the name Callum so many times in this thread that it looks weird Grin
But Callum Luca or Lucas suggested above could work really well with the surname.

She’s chosen Callum with two Ls for a personal reason which I don’t want to disclose on here. It’s not my place. I’ve seen both double-L and single-L used for a first name anyway?

@lapasion

Ballum
?? Never heard of that before. That’s not a real name, surely?! Please be serious

I’ve got a Callum James

JetBlackSteed · 01/03/2022 22:33

It's traditional in ireland for a son to take the fathers name as his second name.
So Calum Jay surname works well.
2 syllables, 1, 3.
And no acronyms of CJP.

loveoflavender · 01/03/2022 22:34

Thanks again for all the serious suggestions.

She would like an English name however, I have seen some that appear to be Gaelic?

A Gaelic spelling with an Italian surname will be an awful
mish mash unless the parents are of Scottish/Irish heritage.

RubyJam · 01/03/2022 22:42

I thought of Callum James straight away , classic and goes together well

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 01/03/2022 22:58

Like I said: she’s calling him Callum with two Ls for a personal reason. It really doesn’t matter one bit whether or not she is of Gaelic descent. The first name and last name sound perfectly fine together; ever since she found out she’s having a boy, she knew she wanted this name. It sounds lovely together with the last name. There’s nothing wrong with it. I asked for middle name SUGGESTIONS. Cheers.

Thank you all for suggestions.
Relaying them to SIL, and she agrees on Callum James but her fiancé (baby’s father) isn’t sold on it as it sounds too close to his own name.
She also likes Andrew but he vetoed that too, because the initials would be “CAP” and he thinks their son would be teased for that? 🙄
She also liked Lucas, Daniel and her OH likes David and someone suggested Vincenzo. He likes that. She doesn’t.
God. I remember this same struggle disagreeing on names with my hubby when we were naming our twins haha!

Maybe the husband could suggest some names.

I like Luca, Lorenzo
