Petrol Sold Out

No unleaded in any of my 3 local stations. Is this just panic buying, or are there actual shortages?

OP posts:

It's the price rises that are constantly in the news, could add £10 to a tank of fuel, of course people will fill up, they are not going to wait until it goes up because MN says so

PicsInRed · 01/03/2022 06:28

Only queue here for the car wash.

Perhaps we want to receive Putin in style?

Alcoh · 01/03/2022 06:30

And so let’s start a thread to make it worse Confused

I filled up last Friday, a tank lasts me months and there was no queues at all.

MushroomHunter · 01/03/2022 06:34

No shortage here and price currently at 149pl

I am on just under half a tank so won’t need to fill up yet.

JenniferWooley · 01/03/2022 06:35

I filled up yesterday but I always do on a Monday as I use a full tank each week for work.

I did however only put £10 in at my local petrol station where E10 was 147.9 & then filled up properly at the one close to work where E10 was only 143.9!

A couple of pumps at each were out of diesel.

PukkaP · 01/03/2022 06:51

My local Sainsbury's had no petrol or diesel yesterday. Morrisons, which is right next door, had both and no queues

TenoringBehind · 01/03/2022 07:14

Fine here but the price has gone up to £1.61.

GordenBennett · 01/03/2022 07:21

I'm on the coast, so it's the last place to fill up before you go abroad. Petrol has been over £1.51 for a while but no shortage here

Wonnle · 01/03/2022 07:33

Threads like this only add to the problem !

MrsLargeEmbodied · 01/03/2022 07:36

no problem here, yesterday, afaik, probably a supply at the particular garage you visited?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 01/03/2022 07:38

perhaps people were filling up before the expected price increase

changeyourname11111 · 01/03/2022 07:39

@Acesup

I'm not sure starting a thread with the title "petrol sold out" is helping tbh

I noticed at Tesco yesterday there was a shortage. I filled tank of diesel and had gone up in price 😳

Beamur · 01/03/2022 08:07

No queues where I live (west Yorkshire) although diesel not available on all pumps. This isn't unusual though. Price just over £1.50 though so has increased.

Bagelsandbrie · 01/03/2022 08:09

No issues here at all.

HouseofHolbein · 01/03/2022 08:11

@Spaghag

Only Morrisons is short here - but that was also down to their 7p off a litre voucher scheme.

I filled up on Friday but I always do on payday. I was on fumes so couldn't really avoid it.

Yes that wasn’t amazing timing in retrospect 😂😂

Our Morrisons has stopped selling diesel for now so that the home delivery trucks can be filled up.

Londonnight · 01/03/2022 08:14

I imagine a lot of it is due to the prices starting to increase. Our Tesco had already gone up by 5p a litre at the weekend, and I'm sure it will continue to increase, Diesel had completely run out here yesterday.

The increases are really worrying for me as I need my car to get to and from work. No public transport available.

Urbanisation · 01/03/2022 08:21

No one has ever Kept Calm And Carried On. The phrase itself was never even used in a proper campaign, likely because the government realised how unrealistic it was. When the poster was unearthed a couple of decades ago it became part of the mythology that UK citizens tell themselves about WWII.

User7497521 · 01/03/2022 08:51

Diesel is probably more in demand as many delivery vehicles use it and people that use vans for business.

Roselilly36 · 01/03/2022 09:31

Bonkers around here, queuing, petrol stations running out. Blind panic as usual, I just don’t get it? There isn’t a problem with supply, yes prices are rising sharply but people buying more than they need, just feeds into more issues.

BlondeWidow · 01/03/2022 09:46

For god's sake!!!! You're making it worse by posting threads like this!

Thanks a lot! 👍🏻

chocolateisavegetable · 01/03/2022 09:48

My theory is that there were more people than normal trying to get fuel on Friday because it was payday. Then other drivers spotted that the garages were busy and assumed it was panic-buying, and they then decided they ought to fill up before there were shortages. Then people started posting about shortages on FB and MN ...

kittensinthekitchen · 01/03/2022 09:48

@DoormatBob

I thought it was due to price rises? Not strictly panic buying but price has increased 20p since Friday?
20p a litre? Where?
CharacterForming · 01/03/2022 09:51

Annoying behaviour but not irrational if prices are expected to be increasing.
