...is the worst thing I've ever heard anyone say. I hate it. I hate people who say it. And I hate people who do it. Grabbing. Yuk.

Just pizza! Or a bit of pizza! The word slice makes me cringe. Its a salivation thing! Grin

Regularsizedrudy · 17/02/2022 23:48

But it’s been sliced! It’s a SLICE of pizza. In American you can buy it BY THE SLICE.

Bitofachinwag · 17/02/2022 23:49

@Regularsizedrudy

“It's just that you are not picking anything up. You are buying something.”

The pizzas don’t levitate out the shop though.. you.. pick them up.

I feel like I’ve slipped into an alternate universe on this thread.

Well, yes but unless you enjoy just holding the pizzas you have picked up you do have to buy them.
Regularsizedrudy · 17/02/2022 23:49

“A bit of pizza” implies you are having less than a slice! Please tell me this is a joke, it’s been a long day!

yupyupyup · 17/02/2022 23:49

There is a certain way people 'spit' a little when they say 'piece' or 'slice' that is just abhorrent to me. So I avoid these words and I judge people who say them

yupyupyup · 17/02/2022 23:52

This made me laugh. I absolutely read it with the incredulity it was typed with!!

I thought grabbing was a gypsy tradition to meet a girlfriend

SuPerDoPer · 18/02/2022 06:39

@Riapia

When it’s a “ movie night” the whole family must “ snuggle” under a blanket with snacks. No self respecting MNer’s family ever tells them anything, it has to be “announced”,Formally one imagines, by a toastmaster.
Amen to this. Mostly the American term "movie" (I make my kids say "film"!), but especially "movie night" which MNers seem to think is the answer to many a family drama. Also "season" instead of "series". The "grabbing" of a coffee/ breakfast/ burger/ whatever I think is supposed to indicate how in demand we are. Although most people don't actually snatch it and take off and will sit down to enjoy it.

How common. I make mine say picture. We watch a picture at home or we go to the pictures. Grin Not really, we don't have a television.

I don't like grab. "I'm just going out to grab a sandwich."

ShowOfHands · 18/02/2022 09:32

My bil doesn't jump in the shower, he jumps through the shower and when he's very busy indeed, he goes for "a quick splash and dash".

Staying round their house is agony.

You are completely bonkers but I kind of love how you're just owning the madness Grin

HelloBunny · 18/02/2022 11:11

Jumps through the shower! I can’t... 😂😂😂

HelloBunny · 18/02/2022 11:13

Yeah, Grab Bags of crisps...
Do we just gingerly pluck the other normal bags from the shelf?

Wilburisagirl · 18/02/2022 13:07

@HelloBunny

Wilburisagirl, now I’m picturing everyone throwing shrimps onto the barbie... 😂 Sorry!
😆 My Dad would "chuck some snaggers on the barbie" I.e barbecue some sausages.
Thecurtainsofdestiny · 18/02/2022 13:11

No to grabbing and slinging!

The one time I "slung" something into a frying pan boiling oil jumped out and l had a burn to show for it. Served me right!

Luckygrey · 18/02/2022 13:16

I think there's a lot to be said for not talking to anybody, ever, as judging by this thread, anything you say will irritate somebody Grin
