How many towels would you expect for a 25 day stay?

We have a little 1 bed Airbnb. It's usually only ever rented for weekends but we have a couple coming to stay for 25 days soon. They are happy to make their own beds etc and so I'm leaving them with all linen and towels for the period and we will collect a sack of the dirties every week. I'm leaving 4 sets of bed linen but I'm totally stumped as to how many bath towels, hand towels and shower mats to leave them though!

Weekenders are easy with a bath towel each, and a shower mat and a hand towel
Me and DH are happy to use a towel for a week or so so my instinct is to leave them with 4 each but the towel related threads on here makes me think it's not enough.

How many towels and specifically bath sheets per person would you expect to be left with for a 25 day stay in a small Airbnb? And is a bed linen set a week sufficient?

@RampantIvy

I think *@ChoiceMummy* is just being deliberately goady, or she has OCD. No sane person is that ridiculously fastidious to the cost to the environment, surely?
I wonder if she will change her ways when energy prices mean she is hit in pocket by running the washing machine 24/7?

@HaveringWavering

It really isn't "grim" to have bedding on for only a week

I agree. Do you seriously change your bedding twice a week @Isausernameavailable?! I think that is extreme. Ours stays on for a fortnight. We are clean people.

Same here! Closer to weekly changing in the hottest heights of summer (all 2 weeks of it) but fortnightly the rest of the year. Changing beds twice a week is ridiculous and I’m not even close to a die-hard ‘green’! Or someone who stretches out the washing! Confused

@OperationDog

I do not the next day wish to wipe my face on the towel which I had previously wiped my private areas

Neither do I. But with a bath towel and a smaller towel for my face the situation doesn't arise.

I’ll hold my hands up and say I give zero f*s about this. No separation of face and body towels here. Firstly, I have good hygiene and secondly, they’re only touching your arse/genitals immediately after washing!!!

Mumsnet is crackers.

QueenofDestruction · 16/02/2022 20:08

I use a face towel for my face and a bath towel for my body, I thought that is 2hat everyone did. You are a bit grim using the same towel for both. I use 2 body towels, 2 facectowels and hand towels a week.

KindergartenKop · 16/02/2022 21:46

WHAT?!! I'd say one bath and one hand towel each per week. Ditto with sheets.

This. Some of you are nuts!

😂

I literally don’t have a single close friend, ex boyfriend (there are a fair few) or family member who uses separate towels for their face and body - and I’ve never heard anybody mention it more widely!

As someone with OCD, it’s quite thrilling to be called ‘a bit grim’. I am going to do exactly nothing about it and will continue drying my face with a towel that has previously touched my CLEAN arse.

DudleyEunice · 16/02/2022 23:08

This is my towel routine after a bath or shower. Dry (clean) face with towel. Then dry (clean) body. Then hang towel on heated airer. Wash it once a fortnight out of a sense of duty, although it isn't in any way dirty.

(The same can't be said for the hand towel in the kitchen which has to be changed almost daily... I'm looking at you DS and your inadequate handwashing after baking!)

Isausernameavailable · 16/02/2022 23:41

Personal choice and all that. I think sheets on for a week is akin to wearing the same clothes every day for a week.

In terms of green and global warming anything we do domestically is completely overshadowed by elsewhere. I dont fly. I like clean sheets

You are being extremely over fastidious. I would wear a pair of jeans for a week. I don't get sweaty or dirty, and I wear a nightie in bed.

We wear pyjamas. So it's like wearing the same jumper for a week, at home, sitting around. Perfectly fine!

Even sleeping just in underwear the sheets are not against armpits, and you are asleep, it's not the same as a t-shirt.

mydogisthebest · 17/02/2022 09:30

@ABitOfAShitShow I too thought it was pretty common for people to use 2 towels. A bath towel for their body and a hand towel for face and hair.

We always have, my parents always did and I know my sister and at least 2 friends do.

@Svara my and DH sleep naked. I still only change the bed once a week. I think that is often enough and I have better things to do with my time

ukborn · 17/02/2022 09:43

Fresh linen twice a week?!? You don't get that at any Airbnb I've been to.
Fresh bed linen each week and two sets of towels which you change over (I'd be fine with one set of towels for the week myself).
I'd offer a clean at the midway point too.
I'm just imagining everyone doing nothing but washing sheets and towels at home...

I've never stayed in any hotel that changes the bed twice a week but maybe I just haven't stayed in a posh enough one!

Personally I would not be impressed with a hotel that did do this as it shows no concern for the environment

@mydogisthebest One of my friends uses a separate hair towel but doesn't dry her face on it. We've been talking about it on WhatsApp this morning. Grin

Frankly, sex is far less hygienic than using the one towel so if I'm ok with that, the towel thing seems redundant to me. Each to their own though!

RampantIvy · 17/02/2022 15:41

I have this hair turban to dry my hair in.

I agree each to their own. I wash my hair every day in the shower as it is very short and when I get out I dry my face and then wrap the towel round my head.

If I didn't wash my hair I would quite likely only use one towel

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 17/02/2022 18:39

I do wear the same clothes for a week, sometimes two. Jeans I wash when they're visibly dirty, same with sweaters, infact all others unless they're sweaty or dirty I'll hang up and wear again.
