A couple of years ago on mumsnet there was a post about a house for sale that had an ex owner buried in the garden.
It was stated in the particulars that there was a body buried and it was all legit

They do make a noise, a constant hum, but quite a loud fizz in the rain. There is an area near us that has houses near pylons. They are in a field just at the back of the small gardens. We turned up to view a house and didn’t even bother going in.

WonderfulYou · 14/02/2022 21:25

I’m shocked at the price!!

It was the first photo I saw so I don’t know if that’s because OP had posted it like that but if not id definitely not put that photo first.

Elderflower14

how can you tell that?

red30505 · 14/02/2022 21:26

wow - we're buying a place with a substation nearby (in the carpark behind the house)... that's been anxious enough to consider!!

At least the EA can't hide it / 'not know' about it.

You can look up previously sold prices on Rightmove and see the old advert.
FawnFrenchieMum · 14/02/2022 21:31

I didn’t even see it when I first looked Blush I was busy looking in the back garden for something random! Noticed the awful car porch though. Read the comments, went back and wondered how on earth id missed it!

longwayoff · 14/02/2022 21:31

Ambitious price. That's a polite way of saying you must be joking. Don't worry about the substation though, shouldn't be a problem.

ivykaty44 · 14/02/2022 21:33

You can look up previously sold prices on Rightmove and see the old advert

that only goes back to mid/late 1990s

if the property was sold before that the price and sale will not show - doesn't mean its not been sold before

my house sale doesn't show on the right move or zoopla

Stillfunny · 14/02/2022 21:37

In the front of the house ! But would at least make it easy to give delivery vans the address .

StolenBhuna · 14/02/2022 21:39

Ooer.

EmmaH2022 · 14/02/2022 21:39

If the hum is like The Hum, I would go mad.

I was also very very surprised 😂 I had no idea this was a thing.

SockFluffInTheBath · 14/02/2022 21:40

Someone’s surely having a laugh with the price Shock

longwayoff · 14/02/2022 21:45

Forgive my ignorance but aren't you supposed to stay away from these things as grey can be dangerous? Is that right? If I move in will it fry my nosey dog?

Longdistance · 14/02/2022 21:46

I’ll give them £3.50. I want change from that.
We looked at a house that had one foot of their pylons in the back garden. It was clearly a no as the grid wanted 24/7 access to it and we wouldn’t be allowed a locked gate. I didn’t look into insurance, but no thanks!

longwayoff · 14/02/2022 21:46

Spellchecker grrr. They.

Cissyandflora · 14/02/2022 21:48

I bet you’d get good reception

Needdoughnuts · 14/02/2022 21:51

If you look at the footprint photo it looks like an infill. The house numbers give it away. So I imagine houses were just originally built either side and then someone bought the land cheap and built a property on it!

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 14/02/2022 21:52

The price is a joke 😲 I can't imagine who would chose to live there as it is, why have they price it so high??
And they don't mention it in the description! I mean it's there for all to see in the photo but they didn't think it was slightly unusual and warranted a mention, maybe they're hoping if they don't mention it people won't notice 😁

MidgeKiller1 · 14/02/2022 21:53

When we were looking to buy we viewed a lovely house, unlike this one nothing odd was in the photos. When we got there it had a pylon like this small bank outside in the front of the garden! We couldn’t believe it and with young DC it was an immediate no, quite unfair on the owners as the house itself was lovely but I can imagine most potential buyers were put off. Hard to understand why planning would allow this?

RedToothBrush · 14/02/2022 21:53

HELL NO.

And there's few houses I'd say that to that definitively.
