I like calcimine by f&b but worried it would look a bit tacky. Does that matter though?

Ok you’re the second person who has said that! But then it’s on trend too?!!!

I would try peignoir! It’s a lovely shade and doesn’t look dull at all when I have used it. More depth to it than calamine which can be a bit sugary. Still a nice option though if you love it.

Or if you decide to go more neutral then Elephant’s Breath would be gorgeous. Pink undertones but more of a timeless greige. I have it in a room with pink furnishings which really brings out the pink tone in the paint so that could be an option.

Ah… elephants breath is lovely. This is too hard!!!!

Does anyone have Setting Plaster? I really want my hall to look like freshly plastered walls, I'm also looking at Masquerade by Little Greene.

TonTonMacoute · 11/02/2022 20:58

Pink Hallway sounds like a euphemism, and it's made me snigger!

I can't work out if this is serious or sarcasm?!

You might like Pink Harmony from Wilko, matte.

I painted our living room pink (unicorn horn valspar) and I love it. It's warm and like a pp said goes well with light wood and brass/gold.

DragonMovie · 11/02/2022 21:24

@Hasselhoffsheadband we considered setting plaster for our living room but the tester doesn’t look right. We have a lot of period features and it just looks weird. Much prefer masquerade. If I had a more modern house I’d prefer setting plaster.

dayswithaY · 11/02/2022 23:32

@Hasselhoffsheadband no sarcasm here, it was a genuine question.

dayswithaY · 11/02/2022 23:35

@DragonMovie thanks, I was leaning towards Masquerade as I prefer Little Greene to F&B.

I’m just going to do it in Peignoir. Not too pink and I’ll see how it looks. Can always paint over it if I hate it!

I think it looks really pretty!
I’m not a follower of trends, I have no idea what’s ‘popular’ at all, I go by what I like and what I want. We do get decorators in every few years to freshen everything up but very rarely do we change the colours anywhere. You have to live there op, if you like it, have it. If in 2 years time you change your mind, you can paint over it, it’s not the end of the world!

LuckyAmy1986 · 13/02/2022 21:27

@TheChosenTwo very true! That’s what DH said, it’s for us not anyone else Smile

Please ignore any comments about being dated or trendy……who cares! Completely irrelevant to the pair of you.

Pink is supposed to be a very calming colour - they painted prison cells pink and recorded a statistically significant decrease in violent/antisocial behaviour in inmates! I’m sure one of my interiors/colour theory books said it was ideal for a hallway for various valid reasons.

That pink is very subtle, to my eyes it’s basically neutral anyway. Setting Plaster is definitely neutral, it’s literally the colour of bare plaster Grin

TheChosenTwo · 13/02/2022 23:18

I liked the idea of setting plaster because I loved the colour of bare plaster when we were doing up our spare room, the sun comes in and it just looked so nice in there. We got a tester but I decided it was more salmon and wasn’t as keen. I wouldn’t rule out a different pink in the house though, I agree that it can be very calming. I follow a couple of accounts on insta who have incredibly colourful houses (lots of pink) and they look so fabulous.

MrsSkylerWhite · 13/02/2022 23:20

We had a salmon hallway in a Georgian townhouse and it was perfect.
It would look awful in our current, Edwardian house.
If it feels right to you, go with it.
