@EducatingArti

Bismuth Antimony is a girl's name.
Educating Arti Please help!

About the only thing I can remember from physics O level (which I failed) is "64 pairs of antimony and bismuth". I have no idea what it refers to and it has bugged me for years. Even Google turned up nothing.

Do you know the answer? You clearly connect the two?

EducatingArti · 11/02/2022 11:19

They are two metals used to make electrical thermocouples.
I spent an entire physics lesson inventing a fairy tale where the princess was called Antimony ( her loyal maidservant was named Rust) and the handsome prince was Bismuth.
I managed even so to do a physics degree.

Ever since I bought an A-Z of Tyneside on my way to a university interview in 1992, I’ve had fantasy twins called Jesmond and Jarrow.

Lol at Box. Poor kid.
Xbox might be more preferable.

Are you going to pronounce jarrow like the locals? 😂

You could also have Craster, Kenton and Birtley.

With a sister called Prudoe. Maybe not Coxhoe though.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/02/2022 11:54

@Dyrene, as it happens, I met DH whilst I lived in Newcastle, and our DD’s middle name is a place name we’ve since lived in.

At one time I toyed with the idea of writing a short story about three siblings - boys Tallinn and Vilnius and their sister Riga.
