Mine was walking down stairs with my hands in my pockets. Didn't end well Grin

Get married.

Gosports · 10/02/2022 13:29

Never mind just doing something once, something I will never even try (based on a friend’s awful experience) is whale watching. Apparently the ocean was so rough everyone was sick…except apparently it’s almost impossible to vomit on a moving ship because you need a flat floor to brace yourself against. And the trip lasted 6 hours. No way, never. I’ll watch whales on YouTube.

Mudday · 10/02/2022 14:49

@Gosports So true! We went whale watching South Island New Zealand and it was a fairly quiet, uneventful trip until we hit really rough sea after about half an hour. Talk about a ship of the damned. Everyone, I mean Everyone was sick. The Captain could barely be heard but was telling everyone to get up on deck and focus on the horizon instead of hiding in the toilets. There were lots of whales doing spectacular Whaley things and no one cared one iota. The Captain wisely headed back to the mainland because of the groaning and potential vomit fuelled mutiny. The only other time I felt that bad was going to an absolutely packed indoor soft play centre with a raging hangover. Never known sweats like it.

@catsareme14

Eyebrow threading . It hurt so much !
I can cope with it around my brows but once I had my upper lip etc done. That is definitely too much!
JuergenSchwarzwald · 10/02/2022 15:19

I'd never heard of andouillette. Having googled it, I won't bother!

silkcut100 · 10/02/2022 15:20

@NotRainingToday

A very high, very fast water slide. It was like a colonic irrigation!
😂I did this in the Canary Islands and the paving around the pool was hot that I burned the soles of my feet legging it to the loos! 🤪
JuergenSchwarzwald · 10/02/2022 15:22

@ISpyCobraKai

Have a baby! I adore the one I had, she's amazing but over 20 years later, it was definitely the right thing to do to just do it once.
Same here!
NannyGythaOgg · 10/02/2022 15:55

At 67 I have done many of these things but not all.

Mainly I have more 'regrets' for those I haven't done, rather than those I have - even the ones I would never repeat.

I would love to abseil, pothole, skydive etc but am unlikely to at my age,

The two I definitely don't regret not having done are anal and eat that disgusting sounding andouillette. I haven't seen one person speak up for it and most foodstuff on here gets someone saying they love it,

Gosports · 10/02/2022 16:29

@Mudday ugh!! My friend said it was rough when they left so they knew it would be bad, but clearly the sea can’t be trusted if it seemed calm for you to start with. Resolve is strengthened! No whales for me!

TroublesomeTrucks · 10/02/2022 16:47

Taking a recently potty-trained toddler to a smart French restaurant (in France) shortly after feeding him a load of fruit puree to treat constipation. We did not go back.

TroublesomeTrucks · 10/02/2022 16:47

He was wearing shorts.

TheTeaFairy · 10/02/2022 16:59

Sewed through my finger...

allfurcoatnoknickers · 10/02/2022 20:26

Another vote for abseiling and eyebrow threading.

Also: Cave tubing, zip lining, skiing.

I think I'm just not very outdoorsy...

dementedma · 10/02/2022 20:29

Give birth
Drink cider
Try to ice skate

DedalusBloom · 10/02/2022 20:46

What's wrong with cider ??

Eating natto (fermented soy beans) in Japan. Like eating vomit. Just thinking about it 15 years later makes me gag.

PixelatedLunchbox · 10/02/2022 21:09

@WillowintheUK

Tried andouillette - one teensy mouthful. Truly awful. 🤮
Jesus. Me too. Had a gravy on it as well, that literally tasted like vomit. Shock
PixelatedLunchbox · 10/02/2022 21:17

For the curious, I give you, andouillette

Things you only do once
RampantIvy · 10/02/2022 22:30

Talking of vomit tasting food - I give you Hershey "chocolate" bars. Just vile.

I bought a six-pack a few weeks ago as I read they're brilliant for gut health. I've managed to eat one so far :(

Rub my eye after chopping chilli.

Study.

I raise you inserting a tampax after chopping a chilli...

White water rafting
Scuba diving
Anal

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 11/02/2022 08:53

Leaving the hot water tap running over night in a small room with windows closed. It was a trickle, but enough to cause condensation which made the paint flake of for weeks after.
