Please help...post c section constipation hell

Please tell me how to empty my bowel, I am in panicked agony

Had c section on Monday.

Had a small motion on Wednesday and nothing since.

I take lactulose twice a day and have been eating plenty of fruit and veg, and keeping hydrated in an attempt to stop this happening.

I am completely clogged up. I am in agony. It feels like I am literally trying to shit a brick.

I just tried 2 suppositories, one after the other and it didn't do anything.

Please help

Prune juice. Grim but effective

Idontlikeworms · 29/01/2022 18:42

Syrup of figs

bonetiredwithtwins · 29/01/2022 18:42

Second the prune juice. I found the first 💩 after my c sections more traumatic than the births themselves

Are you taking codeine? If yes then it’s notorious for it so ask for something else or see how you do on just ibuprofen and paracetamol. Call the midwife though, probably nothing to worry about but you have had surgery in that sort of area so you can’t be too cautious.

orangejuicer · 29/01/2022 18:44

Hi OP. You might not want to hear this but I had to deal with it myself and just get it out.

Fingers crossed you feel better soon.

Teaforme123 · 29/01/2022 18:44

Are you taking iron tablets at all? They bunged me up something silly. I was recommended fibergel sachets alongside lactulose. Mention it to the midwife.

amimollycoddling · 29/01/2022 18:44

I'm taking dihydrocodeine

It’s hell!

Flax seeds grounded into yoghurt
Prunes prunes and more prunes
I found trying to go whilst squatting and then pushing helped… gravity and all that.

Loads of fruit and orange juice

See if the doc can prescribe something?

I tried to do this and just couldn't get it out. It just pushed it further up. Am I doing it wrong??

This is so fucking grim.

That caused me no end of trouble OP, I was in your situation too. I really feel for you. I would call midwife for advice too. Don’t keep suffering on your own.
amimollycoddling · 29/01/2022 18:46

Oh I have fibogel in the house...Will dog the sachets out

Glycerin suppository? And lots and lots to drink.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 29/01/2022 18:47

Black Forest Tea.

Sorted me out on Day 9 post c section.

LovelyBitOfSquirrelInTheWirral · 29/01/2022 18:47

Have you tried putting your feet up on a small foot stool as the squatting position does help.

amimollycoddling · 29/01/2022 18:47

I will call midwife tomorrow

OP posts:
Lockdownmummy · 29/01/2022 18:47

Fybogel. I got some from Boots but the Dr will also prescribe it.

amimollycoddling · 29/01/2022 18:48

I've seen some people on here mention using fingers against the the vagina wall to help push it out. Vaginal splinting I think it's called:

'Vaginal splinting is a form of digital evacuationn_ ("digital" referring to fingers). It involves placing fingers into the vagina and pressing against the back wall to help ease stool out of the rectum. To do this, the woman would feel around the back wall for a bulge and use her fingers to gently move the stool toward the anal canal.'

amimollycoddling · 29/01/2022 18:50

It shit feels so massive and solid I just don't see how it's going tk ever come out.

I can't push because I have no strength in my tummy muscles. I just shake like a leaf.

How will things I ingest now help soften what's already there? It all seems futile and I will be blocked up FOREVER

Fucking hell! I'm going to try this just for the hell of it!!

You won’t be blocked for ever but it’s shit, excuse the pun.

My friend dreaded her second section as was more worried about the post section constipation than the section pain.
