8 week old Amina died with 60 broken bones.
Her parents have been imprisoned for a combined 15 years.

Combined. 7.5 or so years each.

Rest in peace darling girl. I'm so very very sorry that you didn't get better.

Appalling they will be released so soon.
They tried to say paramedics were responsible for some of her injuries!
Sickening.

CorneliusVetch · 28/01/2022 20:47

RIP Amina. I’m so sorry you never had a chance at life.

Mummyof279 · 28/01/2022 20:51

Was this a recent story? I'm not aware of it.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 28/01/2022 20:52

Yes they were sentenced today.

Hearing about this today first made me cry, then made me feel sick. How can anyone do that to a precious newborn? Utterly utterly evil, they should never be freed. Never.

  • Read at your own distress.
Santahasjoinedww · 28/01/2022 20:55

Oh god another poor baby.
Sad

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/01/2022 20:56

There aren't words

YukoandHiro · 28/01/2022 20:56

I cannot understand why this isn't life. Their abuse led to hear death. Poor poor baby. It makes me feel so impotent that she couldn't be protected

DueyCheatemAndHow · 28/01/2022 20:59

'Catalogue of most despicable abuse'.

3.5 years.

I'm just so upset. I don't want to sound like part of a 'hang 'em high' bridge but they killed a newborn baby and they'll be out in just a few years.

IHateCoronavirus · 28/01/2022 21:01

Oh bless her, such a beautiful little baby, with such sparkly eyes. How could anyone hurt such a little innocent, let alone her own parents? RIP little one.

Shsui · 28/01/2022 21:06

Poor baby. I hope they rot in hell.

DuesToTheDirt · 28/01/2022 21:06

Those sentences are nothing. And what would it take to stop these cases? (The sentencing is a separate issue, I don't believe the prospect of long sentences necessarily prevents crimes).

MoiraNotRuby · 28/01/2022 21:08

Its utterly heartbreaking. Rest in peace and I'm sorry we aren't all doing better, I am ashamed of my society.

tillytoodles1 · 28/01/2022 21:13

They should both be sterilised before they are released. They don't ever deserve to have another child.

nellly · 28/01/2022 21:15

It's awful I'm having such a hard time understanding so many of these awful
Cases lately. How can people allow/do this to their own babies

MichelleScarn · 28/01/2022 21:17

@tillytoodles1

They should both be sterilised before they are released. They don't ever deserve to have another child.
Agree with this, but you'll get the 'oh you can't take that right away' 'oh they might be better next time, they should get a chance'.... bleeding hearts. That sentence is horrendous.
Georgeskitchen · 28/01/2022 21:19

I don't understand this charge of "causing or allowing the death of a child " why is this different from murder which attracts a much longer sentence? 7 years each for causing 65 injuries?
Am I missing something?

Akire · 28/01/2022 21:22

Because they couldn’t identify how she died I presume. If she had head injury that was fatal blow and prove one them did it that would been longer sentence. I think poor soul just gave up with the amount of pain she must been in. I agree though ridiculous small prison terms

TabithaTittlemouse · 28/01/2022 21:23

Heartbreaking.

Unsure33 · 28/01/2022 21:24

Terrible . They should be put away for murder .

How did they manage to inflict that many injuries in 8 weeks ? And I don’t understand how there were no external signs .

It just is totally horrific

1Week · 28/01/2022 21:26

@MoiraNotRuby

Its utterly heartbreaking. Rest in peace and I'm sorry we aren't all doing better, I am ashamed of my society.
How is this society's fault? Not having a go. But surely there is a subset of people who are just irredeemable. It certainly seems so - we can't eradicate 'evil'

Poorpoor little child

MondayYogurt · 28/01/2022 21:27

Looks like they victimised another child as well.

Georgeskitchen · 28/01/2022 21:31

Similar case not far from me has just concluded. 8 day old baby shaken to death by the parents.
Took 4 years to get to court
10 years for the father and 8 years for the mother
Shameful sentence

plantmadness · 28/01/2022 21:33

I'll name change after this... I was 'blamed' for a tiny infants retinal haemorrhages and subdural bleed by the defence when both parents were up for murder. I was a doctor in A&E and I resuscitated that baby along with the paramedics, nurses and neighbours at the scene. As the only doctor I was put on the stand and torn apart. Luckily an experienced paediatrician for the court blew that theory out the water. The defence (and abusive parents) will stop at nothing to save their skins. RIP little one. I'm sad that this case hasn't fuelled the public outrage in the same way other cases have of late
