Clever place to keep the WiFi Router password?

StickerPlace · 27/01/2022 13:36

Just that really.

I have the sticker floating about threatening to get itself lost (it's also on the router itself but it's a pain to turn it around)

Anywhere obvious and really useful that I can stick it? Or something to stick it to?

I'm sure some Mumsnetters have some great ideas that I haven't thought of.

I’d just type it on a note in my phone and get rid of the sticker

Brunilde · 27/01/2022 13:38

Take a photo on your phone and save in its own album so it's easy to find. Then put the sticker somewhere safe never to be found again

Justmuddlingalong · 27/01/2022 13:39

I've got one stuck to the laptop and one on the inside of a kitchen cupboard.

Yep, photo on phone.

Eyerollsausageroll · 27/01/2022 13:39

Stick it on the inside on the TV cabinet door?

PurpleCarpets · 27/01/2022 13:40

Ours is on the inside of one of the doors on the kitchen cupboards.

ShirleyPhallus · 27/01/2022 13:41

Change the password to something that’s memorable and chuck it away

ShirleyPhallus · 27/01/2022 13:42

But someone I know has a cross stitch of it in their hallway

reshetima · 27/01/2022 13:42

Do you have a household pin-board where you put up a calendar? Take a photo on your phone too.

And/or if you have a file with your broadband bills, stick it there.

FinestChicken · 27/01/2022 13:43

Inside desk drawer, inside kitchen cupboard door, photo on phone, stuck on router.

FudgeSundae · 27/01/2022 13:43

??? Just change it to something you remember? I have ours as our home phone number.

BashfulClam · 27/01/2022 13:44

I took a photograph and keep it in a folder so I can access it without scrolling through all my pics.

worriedatthemoment · 27/01/2022 13:44

I have a picture of it on my phone

MouseyMoose · 27/01/2022 13:46

I have a picture on my phone and then one sticker on the inside of the under stairs cupboard door and one on the fridge.

trumpisagit · 27/01/2022 13:47

We have a sticker on the side of the fridge

TheSpottedZebra · 27/01/2022 13:48

Uses something like Google Keep which is a sort of online notepad. Can also share notes with others.

sm40 · 27/01/2022 13:50

I stick it on the front of the router!

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 27/01/2022 13:51

Surely the obvious thing is to change it to something you will remember, and is easy to type in?

StickerPlace · 27/01/2022 14:04

@ShirleyPhallus

But someone I know has a cross stitch of it in their hallway
I love this!! Would be great by the computer in the living room.

Take a photo and put it in a folder on your phone.

Handily you can then take photos when you go to other places with wifi passwords and put those photos in the same folder.

murasaki · 27/01/2022 14:05

Inside of tv unit door for me.

StickerPlace · 27/01/2022 14:06

Thanks all.

I have a photo of it on my phone. And I have one already on the router.

I've kayaks liked keeping the cryptic hub names/passwords as figures then they're totally unguessable. Had so many "funny" names on them over the years than I'm happy with SKY4826294 etc now.

Just didn't know if I was missing a great idea of somewhere to put the spare sticker.

Totally mundane question but I've a few minutes in the car to kill and thought I'd ask. Smile

Write it down on a piece of paper and put it wherever you keep random incoming paperwork, takeaway menus, that sort of thing. Or put it in the drawer in the unit underneath the router, which is where ours is.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 27/01/2022 14:16

Ours is stuck inside the bookcase in the living room. Also planning the cross stitch idea but I'm 5 years into my current one (that should have took 3 months), so by the time I do it we won't even have WiFi, just chips in our brains.

boringaccountant · 27/01/2022 14:46

We had ours made into a little magnet on the fridge.
