What were these biscuits called?

I remember them being like party rings, but more 'flower' shaped (in the stereotypical way you draw a flower - crimped). They had icing on them and the icing was brown, white and pink, in a combination of those, some had all three, some just two.

I know I havent made them up, but I cant for the life of me rember what they were called.

LuluBlakey1 · 23/01/2022 17:36

TheSpottedZebra · 23/01/2022 17:37

The topping was really tasty.

I demand their return. Someone, do a petition!

Iced shorties. You could have had all my share They used to set my teeth on edge.

Glad mystery biscuit name found. On topic of biscuits can I be forgiven for a slight derailment by asking if anyone else remembers and mourns the ' lemon puff' - you know the ones with the yummy lemon filling and tasty glazing on the biscuit bit with knobbly edges. Extra points for anyone who knows where you can still buy them!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/01/2022 17:39

Iced gems?

Hi Evelyn,
I think Morrisons still have Lemon Puffs, but they are no longer Jacobs but Boland's. Taste the same though.

@IHateWasps pipped me to the post!

Rockbird · 23/01/2022 17:48

I'm not over Happy Faces being discontinued. Bastards.

Nb Jacobs and Bolands have sort of merged and demerged over the years so it's in effect the same product. Hopefully they've not mucked about with the recipe too much!
Andoffwego · 23/01/2022 17:58

I had completely forgotten about these until now! Haven’t seen them since the mid 80s at the absolute latest.

Re: lemon puffs, as I clicked on the thread I thought “I bet this will be about lemon puffs”. I didn’t like them but I’m sure I’ve seen them in recent years in Home Bargains.

MissyB1 · 23/01/2022 18:05

Lemon puffs oh yes, they were my dad’s favourites.
Mine were Lincoln biscuits, which sadly also seem to have disappeared Sad

sunstripe · 23/01/2022 18:05

Oh wow, I’d forgotten all about those too!

LetsGoParty · 23/01/2022 21:23

Those biscuits are a right blast from the past. I loved them. I still like party rings.

I had forgotten about those iced biscuits until I saw the photo and I remember eating them now!
I have never tried a lemon puff though so I've added them to my morrisons basket for next time! Smile

Thesearmsofmine · 23/01/2022 23:01

I loved Iced Shorties, sooo nice. I’m amazed they haven’t made a comeback as retro items seem to be a thing at the moment.

BillyAndTheSillies · 23/01/2022 23:11

Oh they were amazing, I used to crumble the icing off with my teeth and then eat the biscuit. Memories flooding back of my Grandma who used to have a biscuit tin with iced shorties, pink wafers and lemon puffs. So inevitably everything tasted like lemon puffs with pink wafer dust.

iridescentpaint · 23/01/2022 23:14

I have a definite memory of a biscuit with coloured chewy bits in, any ideas anyone?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/01/2022 23:28

Oh gosh I remember those iced shorties now! Would never have remembered them without that picture. Like Neapolitan ice cream!

Inanun2 · 23/01/2022 23:53

I remember those. I used to like the round biscuits which had a type of marshmallow on the top with desiccated coconut on, they were white and pink soft round drops on top ? Anyone remember these and what they were called ?
