Modibodi period pants- washing them

Alakazam8 · 22/01/2022 11:05

Got dd some 24 hour period pants and she wore them for the first time overnight.
Cold Rinsed them and put on a daily quick cold wash (no detergent as didn’t have any without fabric conditioner this morning and they’ve still got small stains on outside. What have I done wrong or not done please?

I'm fairly sure I read that you don't need to prewash to make them absorbent so they should be fine.
Re washing them separately. You will need to fill the wash up with small things, you can't just wash them alone. They will need the agitation from the other materials to rub against. Nothing bigger than a hand towel or they can just get trapped in it.

SpottyBumPony · 23/01/2022 08:45

I just chuck them in a normal wash load

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 23/01/2022 08:52

I radiator dry mine if the heating is on, if not they take about 24hrs to dry so not too bad. I just do them all in one go once a week. I do have enough pairs to wear two a day (one all day and one all night).

My DD wears them constantly due to a rubbish cycle. I think we have about 18 pairs and she just bungs them into a lidded bin in her bathroom. Day to day I do a wash weekly. When she's actually on, every other day. Seperate wash usually.

No cold rinse, just a 40 degree synthetic wash with a pod and radiator dried. It's been 18 months plus and they're still perfect. (Tulip)

Alakazam8 · 23/01/2022 10:09

So do people have lighter or non black pairs that haven’t stained and are still good as new? It seems like I’ve done the same as everyone else really so why are dd’s stained?
Will get some Ace bleach to try. I was thinking about six pairs should do. That means prob 2 or 3 washes for them each period based on 2/3 pairs a day, luckily dd is pretty regular though still settling into having periods but is liking the no more pads idea.
Just out of interest to others perhaps we have a modibodi costume which is excellent, even use it on heavier days so she doesn’t miss her swimming lessons.

I just throw mine (after rinse) in 30deg wash in their wash bag but with everything else, line or radiator dry. They're still perfect.

I love my mobidis but only have 3 pairs. I rinse them, then leave in a bucket with cold water then wash when ive used them all, alone on cold with detergent. Im too scared to ruin them!

Alakazam8 · 23/01/2022 10:44

Might get a wash bag as well- shame they don’t supply one when you buy them!

Do people no longer wash their knickers by hand every day at night? I always did and so did most others, we were taught to do that.

No Confused why would you when they can be bunged in with the rest of a wash.
Alakazam8 · 23/01/2022 12:04

No don’t wash ordinary knicks by hand… again why would you when you can put them in with other things, it seems to be creating extra work.
Where can I get Ace bleach from, tried local small supermarket but doesn’t have it. Would home bargains have it- could try tomorrow..

No, first no time and I don’t really think they get that clean if you have a bit of discharge like I have most days.

They go into a 60 degree wash when I have collected enough underwear from 3 people.

Igneo · 23/01/2022 13:07

I wash with care, 30• and everything, but see pic, this has happened to mine after only a couple of months. Got in touch with the company to ask and no response.

@Alakazam8 mine did come with a wash bag ....now I'm not sure did I order it separately or not but definitely came in same package

Orangesyringe · 23/01/2022 14:26

Oh, what’s a wash bag? Is it a mesh thingy? I’ve got one from nappy days.

Just bought two pairs of Modi Red overnight shorts style in black for daughter whose just started. I bought them for her to wear at night and I know two pairs won’t be enough but it’s a start. If she gets on with them will buy more. I bought in black even though she would have preferred a pattern as I know I’d be irritated if they stain. I’ve also bought black cotton pj bottoms from ASOS and two black Brolly sheets that go over the bed sheet. I’ll chuck them all in a wash together.

How have others teens found the pants style Modi Reds? We thought we’d go for shorts as they’d be less moving around.

I've literally never in my life heard of anyone washing their knickers by hand each night.

(And that includes my Nan who would now be 101....)

MistyFrequencies · 23/01/2022 15:03

@Orangesyringe yes, mesh bag wash bag.

Alakazam8 · 23/01/2022 16:13

@blyn72 when/where did people do this? asked older relatives today and no recollection of it at all

Orangesyringe · 23/01/2022 17:06

Great, I’ll reuse the nappy wash bag then.

alrightfella · 23/01/2022 18:19

We started off with midi nodi but dd uses the primark ones now as much cheaper. We went for black only to avoid any stains. I literally just bung them in the wash Confused

alrightfella · 23/01/2022 18:20

Oh and I have never, or heard of anyone else washing their knickers by hand each night!

blyn72 · 23/01/2022 18:27

alrightfella, I'm old, pay no attention to me. I also went to a boarding school for a while and we all did it at night.

Alakazam8 · 24/01/2022 06:08

Oh right- thanks for clearing that one up @blyn72. Maybe it was just at your school?

Fedupsotired · 26/01/2022 21:29

@blyn72 my grandma always did this. It was the one thing she continued to do even when her dementia was really bad!
