Modibodi period pants- washing them

Alakazam8 · 22/01/2022 11:05

Got dd some 24 hour period pants and she wore them for the first time overnight.
Cold Rinsed them and put on a daily quick cold wash (no detergent as didn’t have any without fabric conditioner this morning and they’ve still got small stains on outside. What have I done wrong or not done please?

Ah there you go. Hers are teen ones and have ice lollies on which I’m sure doesn’t help. I’ve washed them on a normal wash now and there is only a slight mark on one. Will that come out if I ace it after she’s worn it again? I dried them in a dri buddi- is that ok too?

Put DDs straight in washing machine, 20 degree wash, with washing powder and leave them to dry on radiator, unless she needs them and they’re damp then they go in the tumble dryer, low heat for a few mins

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 22/01/2022 21:31

I use them for incontinence and they have been life changing for me. I cold rinse under the tap after wearing then, let them air dry and then they go in the wash basket and i wash them once a week.

Might not work if wearing them for periods. I wash using Amol non bio tabs at 30 degrees and never had any issues. Was delighted when they had their 50% off sale at Christmas!

Both teen dd and I use them. I only rinse them on heavy days otherwise they just get chucked in with the next load of washing. Washed on 30 degrees short wash with non bio. Dried on airer or washing line.

Dds lasted 2 years and were still in perfect condition, only replaced as she outgrew them.

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/01/2022 21:34

Soak in cold salt water before washing. .

MerryPoppings · 22/01/2022 21:44

Buy black ones, rinse and then cold wash. I've never had any problems doing this.

Phillpot12 · 22/01/2022 21:50

I've just got some in preparation for my daughter and I'm sure I've read you need to wash them first. Just wondering if you did this and if not, maybe that's why they leaked through?
We've got the lolly ones so really hoping to avoid stains!

Alakazam8 · 23/01/2022 00:53

I didn’t wash them first…..have I made them liable to stain every time now?I was so concerned about washing them without damaging them I didn’t even read that anywhere….

Phillpot12 · 23/01/2022 07:20

I think washing/rinsing them activates their absorbency? So maybe now you've washed them they will 'hold' it more rather leak?

Alakazam8 · 23/01/2022 07:36

Hopefully- will be so annoyed with myself if I’ve ruined them. Now that they are dry you can hardly see the stain on them. I assume they will come out next time I wash them…
Dd has taken to them and they seem so much better for environment (despite washing them 3 times yesterday) so will be getting some more pairs soon.
How many pairs do you find adequate?

Mine go in a normal wash and tumble dryer with everything else - still working just fine for me!

Flatandhappy · 23/01/2022 07:43

DD has had them for a few years, tbh after a while we stopped being precious and after being rinsed they get chucked in a darks wash with everything else and they are fine.

byvirtue · 23/01/2022 07:50

I don’t rinse mine. Keep them in a wet bag in the bathroom until ready to wash. then do a quick 15 min cool wash (no powder) then add a normal load of washing and wash as normal with powder but no fabric softener.

I think a blood stain on the lighter colours is inevitable given they are period pants. I have a couple of nude pairs and one has a small stain on the gusset.

I have 7 pairs and find that enough using 2 pairs on my heaviest days.

Fedupsotired · 23/01/2022 08:03

Mine go in a 40 degree wash, I do rinse them first too

ittakes2 · 23/01/2022 08:13

We have Modi body - we only buy the black for this reason. I put on 15min cycle and then add to normal wash.

ittakes2 · 23/01/2022 08:14

I must admit I know it says no fabric softener but since I put in normal wash they do get fabric softener.

LemonCake79 · 23/01/2022 08:19

I put DD's in with towels go overcome the no fabric conditioner thing.

ittakes2 · 23/01/2022 08:19

If your daughter is very heavy on first day she can wear them with a pad and then remove the pad. I know they are the 24hrs option but if everyone is different and they might not be enough for her first day.
We use fairy non bio and it’s fine. Also dry in dryer and also fine.

Godzillaandgodzuki · 23/01/2022 08:21

40 wash, usually no rinsing and bio detergent. I was struggling to get them dry with no blazing sun so now they go in the tumble dryer on high and have been fine.

GoodnightGrandma · 23/01/2022 08:23

I just Chuck mine in the wash

Chakraleaf · 23/01/2022 08:25

@Ihaveoflate

I hand rinse them in the sink until the water runs clear and bung them in a net bag until I have a few pairs to wash. Then I wash them with a normal load of clothes with bio powder at 40.
This is exactly what I do.
StrawberryLollipops · 23/01/2022 08:29

Don't know if this is all right for period pants- but this is what I do for clothes and bedding that gets stained (very badly sometimes) - I put a couple of tsp/small handfull of table salt when soaking or in the prewash. Cleans blood stains like magic.

ElinorOliphant · 23/01/2022 08:37

I’m very precious about washing them as they’re so expensive so I want them to be as effective as poss!

I rinse them in cold water til it runs clear. Then on on a cold cycle with bio detergent. I hang them to dry which takes forever. They say to not tumble or rad dry but I see loads of people on here do so maybe they’re just over cautious with the instructions!

Black pairs only here!

adulthumanfemalemum · 23/01/2022 08:41

We only have black ones too. Some have got that sort of bleached out "stain" you get on black on the gusset but the outside looks fine. We don't wash separately just chuck in with a dark load, but we wash everything at 30 anyway.

UnbelievableAlien · 23/01/2022 08:43

I rinse with cold water until the water runs clear and then bung in a general was with non-bio usually on a 40. Been going strong for a couple of years now.
