My DD goes to sleep with music on, has done since birth, music stops about an hour after she's fallen asleep.. Currently on her play list is 80s Power Ballads.. One of which is my favourite, The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush (not Celine Dion version!!)
What's your favourite?

@MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake
Somewhere In My Heart is a great pop song but I'd quibble about it being included in a power ballad compilation. As would Roddy Frame no doubt grin

This is fair I just love it 😁

Just introduced DS to Rock of Ages, I love those songs

Ooh I do love a good ballad! A few of my favs are:-

Making love out of nothing - air supply

I’d do anything for love - meat loaf (but the full version so you hear all the versus of the female vocals - really powerful lyrics)

This ain’t a love song/bed of roses/these days - Bon Jovi

Walking in Memphis - Marc cohen

Poison - Alice cooper

Every rose has it’s thorn- poison

Love bites/when love and hate collide - Def Leppard

There are lots more but I love these

Looks like my spotify playlist is my own power ballads composition - lots of the above are on it.

One which isn't above is Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through by Meat Loaf. One of my favourites

lollipoprainbow · 21/01/2022 23:29

Is this Love whitesnake. The video is epic!!

youvegottenminuteslynn · 21/01/2022 23:29

Tina Arena - Chains. One of my favourite belters Grin
Omg SO MUCH THIS. I was going to comment this and was feeling smug it would be one everyone else had forgotten Grin

Absolute banger.

drigon · 21/01/2022 23:31

I quite like China in your Hand by T'pau and love Helen Reddy singing I Don't Know How to Love Him- again, a lovely crescendo in this one.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 21/01/2022 23:31

I'd forgotten about that Tina Arena song. Impossible not to sing 'I'm in CHAAAAAAAINNNSSSS' when that comes on the radio.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 21/01/2022 23:33

I need to go to sleep but I've now got my ear buds in compiling a new playlist, currently listening to INXS never tear us apart

drigon · 21/01/2022 23:37

I'm not actually sure if they're PBs, but good, loud singalong songs are Gloria (Laura Brannigan), Feeling Good ( Nina Simone) and Temptation ( Heaven 17). All favourites of mine.

drigon · 21/01/2022 23:38

Good call, Jurgens!

AmberGer · 21/01/2022 23:41

I am definitely going to be listening to most of these suggestions tomorrow.
