My DD goes to sleep with music on, has done since birth, music stops about an hour after she's fallen asleep.. Currently on her play list is 80s Power Ballads.. One of which is my favourite, The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush (not Celine Dion version!!)
What's your favourite?

These Dreams by Heart
Absolute banger!

I also love that song they had about getting pregnant from a night of passion in a motel with a hitchhiker - All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You.

BlueSkyeThinker · 21/01/2022 22:58

Love is Only A Feeling by The Darkness is an under rated gem, imho.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 21/01/2022 22:58

The makings of a great playlist here. 2 outta 3 ain't bad would've been on mine but it actually made me a little tearful when I heard it today in the car. The first ever concert I went to was meatloaf...
Purple rain is a classic also November rain

Don't Cry by GnR

IGotTheP0w3r · 21/01/2022 22:59

I can't listen to meatloaf at the moment, he's one of my very favourite artists and it just makes me so sad.

I'm still in love with Rock of Ages as a musical (and even the movie) just because of the number of awesome power ballads used for the soundtrack to it. The movie got me through some of my lowest moments just because I could belt the songs out while watching.

IDontHaveThePelvisForAFuton · 21/01/2022 23:00

Tina Arena - Chains. One of my favourite belters Grin

@SarahDippity

Think Twice, Celine Dion Blush
@SarahDippity @IGotTheP0w3r Sorry guys...I’m afraid that song is and forever will be MINE 🤣 I’d sing the shit out of that “No, No, No, No!” at karaoke if I didn’t sound like a dying animal 🤣 my shower version is second to none 😏 haha

“Now 100 Power Ballads” is my playlist for when I’m cleaning the house 🤣

Snoopsnoggysnog · 21/01/2022 23:05

@IGotTheP0w3r

Unconventional one, but 4 non blondes, what's up always gets me badly singing also.
I absolutely love this. It’s a great one for karaoke. Great thread, I love all these. I’ve been listening to Meatloaf all day
massistar · 21/01/2022 23:06

Always by Bon Jovi!

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 21/01/2022 23:07

Somewhere In My Heart is a great pop song but I'd quibble about it being included in a power ballad compilation. As would Roddy Frame no doubt Grin

Roseyleaf · 21/01/2022 23:10

It's All Coming Back to Me Now - Celine Dion.

NellyTimes · 21/01/2022 23:10

Alone by Heart
It's All Coming Back To Me Now by Pandora's Box
Show Me Heaven by Maria McKee
Always and In These Arms by Bon Jovi
Without You by Harry Nilsson

JacquelineCarlyle · 21/01/2022 23:10

These are all great songs! I need to make a playlist!
