Good luck on your Slimming World journey, I did SW for about 2 years, i actually liked the food you can eat and found most times i could keep within my 15 syns, I lost loads of weight too, but finished in December and at the moment I'm just doing calorie counting.

Some good Youtubers to watch are Tracy Mouse and A Slice of Jess among many.
All the best !!

Thank u so much can I ask ask much u lost in how long please? I find this diet so much easier than others as there's so much food choice and syns help giving me my chocolate fix when I need it.
Well done to u on losing lots of weight.
Thank u I shall check them out. I'm not going to a group so nice to find things to give me more ideas and that will keep me motivated. Smile

I lost in total, 5 stone, 6 ounces in 16 months. I was then at my target weight of 10stone which I have maintained for nearly a year now.

I know people who have lost more faster and some who lose less and everyone has a different target weight obviously, for me i felt i needed to lose that weight.

I started SW in Feb 2020, went to group for about 6 weeks then Covid hit and everything went online. I did attend group in the later part of last year but with social distancing and mask wearing its not the same.

I enjoyed SW and really enjoyed cooking from scratch, i found some recipes quick and once I'd done them a couple of times got faster at preparing them. These recipes have become staples in our home now, hubby loves them too.
Even though im not on SW i still use their recipes. Still love some fat free fromage frais and a tiny bit of mint sauce mixed together such a yummy dip with carrot sticks! Overnight oats, fruit salads, skinny syrups, still eat them.
I also used to buy the ready meals from Iceland, they are ok if youre short on time.
I found the app very useful especially the function where you can scan your foods.

As for exercise, i used my treadmill and went for walks nothing major but they do tell you to exercise.

Good luck, let me know how youre doing and all the best for the wedding!

Wow that's amazing, big well done to you.
Yes I no people lose at different rates. I've got about 8 stone in total to lose but I no that's not coming off before the wedding but hoping to get a few stone off fingers crossed.
I have done sw before but not for long I've only started this time round last monday and have been doing an hour gym workout 5 times a week and intend to keep up with this.
Nice to see you have some favourites I made chicken sweet potato and butternut squash tagine last week it was really nice, I now need to find some low or syn free sweet things as I have major sweet tooth, chocolates always been my problem. I still need to get the app but it's that initial payment, it's so high as all in one go for first 3 months. Deffo easier when u can scan the barcode tho isn't it.
Thank you shall do

I started SW last week and have my second weigh in tomorrow. Last week was a really good loss but this week has been very busy and stressful at work so I have not had time to cook. I will be getting some SW ready meals in for stressful days. Any loss would be good tomorrow even if its half a pound.

I lost 5.5 stone in a year. I'm maintaining now, at a size 14/16. I may lose more in future, but for now it's enough.

Concentrate on eating lots of speed foods and protein. Have hard boiled eggs and cooked ham in the fridge to snack on. Fruit on the side. Only eat other snack things after you've eaten speed and protein. Pickled onions, gherkins, beetroot make a change from lettuce and cucumber.

How active are you? If you can attack it from both sides, that really helps!

Good luck!

Justkeepmoving- Fingers crossed for your weigh in, let me no how u get on. I make bigger portions when I cook then portion it up and put in the freezer so I no I have meals ready for when I need them. I also tend to try keep a few micro meals in the freezer for when im really pushed for time.

Pickleme- well done that's great. Thank u I shall do that it's always quick easy snacks I struggle with so I need to keep a tub of salad in the fridge there's plenty of fruit also but I'll boil some eggs too thanks for advice. I have a home gym I use 5 times per week for an hour each time, exercise bike, rowing machine, cross trainer, vibration plate, also do some push ups and use the ab wheel and I walk to pick my twins up from school although isn't far, deffo more active than I was a week or 2 ago

Welcome to join us and we can all support each other
First week is tough changing habits isn't it I'm due to weigh Tuesday for my first weigh in but had a sneeky look at the scales this morning in 5 days I've lost 8lb so absolutely chuffed with that as I've got 4 stone 5lb to lose in I think 22 weeks when I get married so alot to lose, really set my goal high this time I just hope I can do it. I desperately want a size 14 dress 😬

You can definitely do it. I've always been a late night snacker so breaking that habit has been the hardest. I went to bed hungry some nights even though I had a decent filling tea. I've got 2.5 stone to lose and I'll be happy.

Thank you fingers crossed, me too evenings is the worst time for me as that's normally when I pick at things like crisps and chocolate. Been trying to have my dinner a bit later so then I'm not hungry although it's still trying to keep busy in the evening so I don't think about food. 2 and a half is a nice amount after I lose my 4 stone 5lb I've still got a further 2 and a half to lose so I've a long way to go but feeling determined. Last time I did slimming world I always seemed to go to bed hungry with rumbling belly but this time round hasn't been so bad maybe as I'm drinking more and eating later

I've found my people!

I started last Thursday. Have kept to my syns but I do tend to use nearly all my syns every day, mostly because I hate savoury things for breakfast so I have granola which is 6 syns. I also use syns for gin!

Anyone else eaten all their syns and still seen a loss?

I had a roast today, and while I did yorkies, roast potatoes and gravy for the family, I had boiled potatoes, chicken and veg only. Bit dull but at least I can still eat the same foods as the rest of my family, just with modification. I have 2.5 stone to lose.

Welcome
If it fills a hole and stops faffing about at meal time and works for u then so be it. I'm having Mediterranean veg with salmon today.
Well done on the walk it's my day off from the gym today and I still found myself doing 10 minutes on the vibration plate
I use quite a few syns I'm allowed 20 as I'm over 16 stone I often have sandwich at lunch then have to syn a cereal bar and I sometimes use quite a few syns on butter and my freddo if I have it of an evening and some other bits and I'm still losing but only week one.
What's everyone fave meal, snack and breakfast they've tried?
I love the diet cola chicken, chicken sweet potato and butternut squash tangine some amazing flavours. Nothing exciting about my breakfasts or lunches though ha

Thanks for the support guys. I did SW over 10 years ago after I had my 2nd child, lost 2 stone in 15 weeks and maintained for a few years. Divorce, change of jobs, new relationship and most recently covid last year (now long covid) has all lead to snacking, drinking too much & now unable to do my daily yoga or any really exercise as I'm constantly out of breath. Feel like I've aged 10 years in past year!

Need to loose 3 stone and start on Thursday so fingers crossed it works as well as it did last time, now teenage children rather than toddlers so less control as to what food is in the house :(

Report
Murgy2b · 24/01/2022 17:12

I totally get that with having older children u can't always control what's in the house, my daughters chocolate sweet stash from Xmas is ridiculous, when I do the food shopping I tend to buy things I'm not keen on so I don't feel I'm missing out. I'm a mum of 6 aged 20 months to 12 years so there's always naughty treats in the house.
I'm sure u will do amazing and even if it comes of slower its still the right direction. This covid is a nightmare wish it would just end. Hopefully in time u start feeling more yourself and your breathing gets better Smile

I'm starting this week 10kg of COVID weight to go.
Had done WW on off years found it really good but it not running in my area now.
Reading up on SW I still not sure about what different from WW in what recommended to eat.
Busy work and children so nervous about having the time to put into doing it right but need to start something.
Amazed reading success here well done should help keep me going with it.

853 good luck with your journey. Hopefully u get on fine. I'm a mum of 6 and its so hard as I already mess around at meal times, I have a couple of children with autism so can't stand certain wet foods so I'm currently cooking 2 kids dinners per day, my dinner then my partners dinner when he gets home from work. Constantly surrounded by food. Last week was a bad week I gained 2lb. Really struggling with evening picking it's when I want chocolate and cake etc. Exercise is going fine tho but it's still not enuf to get the weight off alone.
