Things that you learned the hard way

I learned that you shouldn't put bottles of Cola out in the garage to keep them cold, when it's one of the coldest Winters on record. They go off like a bomb. I could hear them from a street away and I'm amazed that no one called the police.

What have you learned the hard way?

Hard work isn't rewarded at work, not taking sick days isn't rewarded

broccolibush · 16/01/2022 17:57

That if your parents tell you that you’re unloveable you’ll never really unlearn that. No matter who loves you or likes you as an adult, you’ll need really believe it.

Whatsyourfavouritescarymovie · 16/01/2022 17:59

@How2Help definitely not, ghostface always gets caught in the end and killed.

HeidiHaus · 16/01/2022 18:00

You should listen when people tell you to pay in to a pension scheme because you are middle-aged before you know it Confused

@LaurieFairyCake

Don't shag people you work with 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ ever !!!!!
I can vouch for this 😅

Same if you're told you're stupid, will never amount to anything, aren't smart enough to achieve something or any other insult commonly thrown at children. You might think of it as a joke and not really mean it, but a child doesn't understand that, they'll believe they're stupid and that comment will stay with them for a long time.

@broccolibush so sorry that happened to you. They are knobs.

Most people will not have your back.

The words of bullies will never truly go away.

Even if they’re a temp and it’s their last day. They will get rehired and it will be excruciating.
LyndaSnellsSniff · 16/01/2022 18:34

If a friend bitches/gossips about others to you, you can guarantee they bitch/gossip about YOU to others.

You can’t change other people’s opinions. Especially on social media.

seekingasimplelife · 16/01/2022 18:49

No good deed goes unpunished.

autopsyandgrim · 16/01/2022 18:49

Do not leave bottles of soap out in the bathroom. Every bottle poured together in the cauldron toilet and then flushed makes a foam that can be carved into shape.

Don't assume it's chocolate before licking.

Omg! What was it???
LemonDrizzles · 16/01/2022 19:41

Popping leftover confetti balloons from a work party (I nor anyone in my home chose...) takes weeks to clear. No, make that months....

Sunnysidegold · 16/01/2022 19:47

Just because you are nice to people doesn't mean they will be nice to you.

If you run your finger on a knife or pair of scissors to see how sharp the answer is always "pretty damn sharp". I've done that twice. You'd think I'd have learned after the first time.

DangerKangeroo · 16/01/2022 19:51

Most people are very selfish, regardless of whether they are rich or poor.

BigGreyOwl · 16/01/2022 19:59

Never get married.

Imissmoominmama · 16/01/2022 20:24

People who shoehorn themselves into your life should be treated with caution.

Sunbeams09 · 16/01/2022 20:28

If your toddler says they need a wee - they mean right now!

Always trust google, if it’s telling you to go a different way home from usual just do it!

Don’t buy shoes for babies before they can walk unless you like wasting money!

VioletLemon · 16/01/2022 20:30

My DC, age 2 decided that a beef stock cube - shiny wrapper, brown squishy inside - must be chocolate. Despite me warning, I caught mini troublemaker in the cupboard. Learnt the hard way it wasn’t a sweet.
DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 16/01/2022 20:34

Trust your instincts, don't over think and change your mind, just go with your gut.
