Help me find a new kitchen gadget

We have a big gadget cupboard. We love them. In recent years we've had a cheque from a relative for £100 which we've spent on a new gadget. Last year was a Velvetiser.

We have an Instantpot, Magimix, air fryer, panini maker, ice cream maker. We tried a George Foreman grill but didn't like it so it went back.

Any suggestions what we can get? It doesn't have to be for the kitchen, I guess. We have Alexas and home plugs. We can top up the £100, if needed.

Crepe maker?

indignatio · 13/01/2022 22:16

Ooni pizza oven
Completely overpriced but the pizzas are fabulous

indignatio · 13/01/2022 22:17

And you need to use it outside

Teppanyaki grill

Electric Tin opener

Kitchen Aid and Kenwood now do cordless versions of a stick blender and I think a food mixer.
Both are on my birthday list! No more annoying cables to tidy!

Am I the only one that finds all this a bit distasteful? I mean it's one thing to have something you really want and look forward to buying it but this is basically 'I want to buy another piece of plastic crap I'll use twice and dump in a cupboard with all the other plastic crap'.

The antithesis of a kitchen gadget....
A really good knife

You sound like my DS. He's furious about the waffle maker. Grin Tbf though it's the only thing we have that we don't use. Everything else is used regularly or has been sold on.

Raclette grill? Fondue pot thing? (I may have a cheese obsession ...).

Sontagsleere · 13/01/2022 22:24

I'm coveting a Thermomix but super expensive!

Agree. We have some fancy Japanese knives that are a PITA as they don't go in the dishwasher, but are amazing to use.

Wine fridge. Electric meat slicer.

Justilou1 · 13/01/2022 22:30

Do you drink a lot of hot drinks? One of these? (This is the most expensive brand… there are others of course!)!

Personally, I like the look of the Always Pan, but have heard that they are not nearly as indestructible as they claim.

Smart kettle 'Alexa put on the kettle'
Have to remember to fill it with water after each use though.

Then why not put them in the dishwasher? What's the worst that could happen- they last 5 years instead of 20?

justasking111 · 13/01/2022 22:55

@SFHJ

Vacuum sealer! Can be useful for splitting multipacks of meat for freezing, you can add marinades, etc. Use it for cooking!
Second this it's great you buy big packs of meat split bag and freeze. Sauces, batch cook, divide and freeze. Those envelopes take up such a small space

Five years we sharpen ours regularly

smeg kettle

I never imagined how much I’d appreciate the variable temperature - massively improved herbal tea and cafetière coffee. Other, less pretty, versions of kettles are available!

Friends swear by the window cleaner thing I had a go it works well. Rechargeable I think it vacuums up the dirty water

Whitney168 · 13/01/2022 23:04

The instant pot does soup and we have a stick blender, so no need for even a soup maker.

I used to say that, but husband bought me a soup maker for Christmas - quicker, easier and better!

Love the IP, but its soup days are over.

Oh yes, Karcher window vac, love mine and various people have bought them too after trying mine.

You have £100+
You have all the gadgets under the sun
You're asking people to tell you what gadget to buy so you clearly don't need another otherwise you wouldn't need to ask.
Can't you use the money elsewhere or donate?

No because it was given to us as a present for us to buy something we'd enjoy using. But thank you for your lofty judgement. Hmm

Thanks to all the other PP who've posted with very helpful suggestions, many of which we also have or have tried. I like the window vac, manual chopper and am tempted by the electric potato masher I found as you can also use it to make pastry, which I make just as often.

I promise not to put them in land fill if we end up not using them very much. We are generally quite minimalist but have a weak spot for gadgets. Grin
