NC. We've had to name Leonbergers before but we're struggling this time. She's a girl and we're looking for something that trips off the tongue for calling and would really suit a Leonberger specifically, rather than a more general dog name. TIA.

Tiny/Titch
We've always been very much a giant dogs family, and they all get called Titch ironically, at one time or another - usually when they're taking up too much room, as in 'move yourself, Titch'!

@catandbabymama

I thought your surname was Leonberger and you wanted baby names at first
This is pretty close to the case! Wink

Nan. Or Connie/Constance.

And can I second (third) the request for puppy pictures, please!

BarkminsterBlue · 04/01/2022 18:24

We are going to need pictures to enable us to give her the correct name Grin

Nana, the dog in Peter Pan.
Nice, but unfortunately a Saint Bernard!

Not a St Bernard! A Landseer Newfoundland. Canonically.
PuppyPonderings · 04/01/2022 18:54

I bow-wow to your Peter Pan knowledge, @GrouchyKiwi . A relative at least.

Duchess. Queenie. Majesty.
These would give her ideas above her station and she already has quite enough already!

Big Bertha
I quite like Bertha but I think the Big prefix would be unnecessary, as in 'pointing out the obvious'!

PuppyPonderings · 04/01/2022 20:05

Some great suggestions so far - many thanks to everyone.

Some we have already thought of, some not, and one or two already used!

With one or two exceptions so far, we're probably leaning towards a leonine or German-origin name, probably of two syllables or able to be shortened or extended to two syllables nicely.

I'm going to go through the thread and make a Long List, then we'll need to get that down to a Short List...and then The One. Glitterball
