And I’m getting worried about going back to work sounding like this as 5 days in I still feel as bad / as snotty/ grotty as day 1 😷!

Yes, it’s run through our household, adult DD, GS, and me. DH has it now. It has been a miserable Christmas. Not Covid. We had done LFT’s and I did a PCR as I felt so bad. It hangs around for ages. It gets better and then a relapse ( though not as bad as the original). Sorry to be a gloom monger. Hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself.

supercatlady · 01/01/2022 14:00

We have same, husband son and I. 5 days in I’m still feeling so rough. Negative PCRs for all 3 of us on 28/12. Husband had it before then got better then worse again.

Have people forgotten that colds, virus’s and flu also exist??

FilledSoda · 01/01/2022 14:40

Definitely don't bring it into work.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 01/01/2022 14:41

I started on the 18th and still coughing and snotty. It is a nightmare.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 01/01/2022 14:42

Dd and DS had this before Xmas DS a healthy 17yo was coughing for over a week. All LFTs negative.

Heatherjayne1972 · 01/01/2022 14:44

Yep us too.
Exact covid symptoms except all tested negative
Odd two weeks on and still not 100%

VaguelyInteresting · 01/01/2022 14:45

Yeah I started with it on the 21st—was tired and had a scratchy/sore throat for a week before that.

Had 2x PCRs- one when the sore throat started and another when the full symptoms (headache, snot, cough, face pain etc) started- both negative. Also LFTs (maybe 5 in that time?)

Am still slightly catarrh-y, one ear still a bit sore and cough like fury on a morning for the first hour after getting up.

Am back out and about now, but did cancel Christmas plans as didn’t want to pass it on to anyone, as they would potentially have had to test and isolate too.

hamstersarse · 01/01/2022 14:47

I never get colds but had one in early December that was a bastard. Fever, snot, cough, groggy.

I’ve got covid now and on balance I’d say the cold was worse

jollygreenpea · 01/01/2022 14:47

@Arabelladrinkstea

Yes because all we've had is covid rammed down our throats for the last 2 years, no other illnesses at all.
MrsDThomas · 01/01/2022 14:54

Im the same. 4 negative LFT and i feel shit.

Its a cold. Like covid.

MrsDThomas · 01/01/2022 14:55

Just to add i was bed bound for the whole day after my 1st covid jab, and this is nothing. Cannot be covid

Sn0tnose · 01/01/2022 15:13

I’m in week 3 (negative tests). Everything has mostly eased off except the cough, which is just bloody awful. My lungs hurt and every muscle hurts from coughing. I think it’s an infection looking at what I’m coughing up. I haven’t had a cough or cold this bad for a long time.

vodkaredbullgirl · 01/01/2022 15:15

Only had a stinking cold, no temperature no hacking cough. Lfts neg PCR neg.

amusedbush · 01/01/2022 15:17

DH came down with what you’re describing a few days before me and I woke up with it on the 22nd so we’ve had a miserable Christmas. Test after test says no covid for either of us, just a bad cold or chest infection, I suppose. I’m annoyed because I was floored for four weeks with it in August/September so I’ve managed to avoid covid for two years but caught every supercold on the go Hmm

Cocoabutterformula · 01/01/2022 15:18

Well could just be a cold, chest infection, pneumonia, pleurisy or any other virus that has been around for millennia

2022HowDoYouDo · 01/01/2022 15:21

You've got a nasty cold 🤷‍♀️

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 01/01/2022 15:36

I have a theory that it's because of the lockdowns and sanitising the fuck out of everything and wearing masks everywhere. We don't come into contact with as many run of the mill viruses and germs now. So our immune systems are less active and not as quick off the mark if we do catch something.

NeedWineNow · 01/01/2022 15:47

I started off with a sore throat and tickly cough, mainly at night. Lasted for 2 weeks. Did an LFT every single day and every one was negative. Ached and felt washed out and had dreadful itchy eyes and itchy ears which I always get when I have a cold. I agree that people seem to have forgotten other viruses do exist. I can't believe for instance that in Winter 2020 it was reported that we didn't have a single case of flu!

AlbertBridge · 01/01/2022 16:34

I've got this! Started on Boxing Day and has got worse ever since. The sore throat is awful, it really hurts to cough. 😞

Has anyone found anything that helps to cure it? Like massive doses of vitamin C? Anything??

Yes!!!

We've had it over two weeks now. Have had PCRs and LF - all negative.

All of us have it and it's also accompanied by random stomach pain/ dizziness/ sweating and diarrhoea.

The cough is revolting. Always at night and early in the morning.

Hope you feel better.💕

It isn't a cold . It's absolutely vile whatever it is and colds make you feel shit but this ain't no cold .
RunAwayNow · 01/01/2022 18:10

It's the supercold. I'm more than 2 weeks in and only just starting to feel a bit better.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 01/01/2022 18:15

It's just a cold.

The reason you're feeling it so badly as we've spent so much of the last two years isolating and social distancing that we've not really been in contact with germs like we normally would be.

So when we do get infected, it hits us even worse as our immune systems have basically done fuck all for two years.
