So I'm (like many other people) a little bit chubby (cough) and need to drop some weight, and want to get fit.

I dont like cold, or going outside, and i'm not really a people person, so group stuff,.... nah

I'm thinking that I could do some workouts from my smart tv - and would like a good variety...!

So, what am I asking? Do you have a good FUN!! workout that you got online? I also have the elegance of a wounded slug.....

I will try (most) that are linked, for at least 30 5 minutes! Show me what you got and drop your links!!

@dearblossom heels, big hair and a very short nightie.

FlowerArranger · 28/12/2021 21:25

Ths is a reasonably challenging but doable - and fun Tabata whole body workout:

Throughabushbackwards · 28/12/2021 21:32

I bought a "silent" mini trampoline so I can run and bounce in the living room whilst watching tv. I can run for almost an hour now and get up a good heart rate, I hardly realise I'm pushing myself as long as there is something good on the tele.

Lucy Wyndham Read videos are great. Great for beginners.

I also use Joanna Soh workout videos on YouTube. She is fantastic at keeping you motivated.

Sorry, clicked post before ready 🤦🏻

The other one I can recommend is Jenny Ford. She has already been recommended by a PP.

I have a stone to lose in 2022 so I completely understand OP😬

friggingnora · 29/12/2021 09:44

Great thread. Will try these with you OP.

snapsieplopp · 29/12/2021 11:14

Can anyone recommend a light weights workout, not in the mood for body pump?

Wineloffa · 29/12/2021 11:19

Jillian Michaels is brilliant. I’ve been doing her workouts 5 days a week since last March. I have her app which has loads of content so I never get bored.

Walk at Home by Leslie Sansone

3dogsnorth · 29/12/2021 11:46

Also placemarking in case the gym closes again

Whatever you choose to do make sure it's a workout you enjoy and then it's never going to feel like a chore!

So many good ideas in here.
Can I ask about how much space people have? I literally have only 2.5 X 1.5 m I can use, so I end up only doing yoga, tbh.
Anyone else in a small flat? [hopeful face]

PeachMelba78 · 29/12/2021 12:21

I use the 7 app - 7 minutes every day, and I go climbing with my son once a week too, plus I try to walk a couple of times a week. Less than £10 for the year with 7 and loads of workouts with the short time to keep you motivated, and I only have a small space to work out in.

Not in a small flat but I exercise with my partner and he takes up a lot of room. If you have room to do a burpee that is all you really need. Definitely enough space though some squat walks might need adaptations.

I do mine in my lounge which hadn’t a huge about of free floor space. You can always modify the exercises that require you to cover more area. Most of Jillian’s workouts can be done on space similar size to a yoga mat.

My top YouTube picks:
Move with Nicole- Pilates
Trifecta Pilates
Tim Sinesi - Yoga
Yoga with Adrienne - does a 30 day intro program for all levels ..

I alternate between yoga and Pilates .Yoga for alignment/ peace of mind .. Pilates for core and strength .. I've also got a subscription with yoga glo only because my favourite teacher, Jason Crandell is on there but otherwise I would find plenty to do on YouTube . Have bought mats / light weights and a small flat cushion to give extra bounce for my knees !

doubleshotcappuccino · 29/12/2021 16:51

Also ., forgot to add I use a playlist to get me in the mood - anything from Spotify like " chilled morning"
" happy morning" " stress free" seems to work very well .

KrakowDawn · 29/12/2021 18:35

Thank you @Wineloffa and @Worldgonecrazy!

I tried Les Mills and especially the dancey ones as I love a dance workout, but it was a bit too advanced for me as a fat entry level exerciser and I didn’t make it through a class!

Yousexybugger · 30/12/2021 10:16

Another Caroline Girvan fan! I genuinely love her kettlebell workouts. She has a 15 min one that is perfect to either start with, or slot in when you don't have much time/ inclination.

Also love Afrifitness with Rachael Okesola. She has really fun dance workouts that get your heart rate up, sometimes with weights or resistance bands. The dance element helps me with my terrible coordination plus great music.

@Caramellatteplease

Anything les mills on demand. If your new to exercise try the tone
Not the new one though! I've been doing LM for years and the latest Tone is like Grit-lite and the timing is really strange.

Totally agree with Les Mills otherwise! They have a few "hybrid" workouts that are low impact that are a good starting point too.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 30/12/2021 10:56

FitOn is pretty good too. Wide range of exercises. The music isn't great but it's free! I have the paid for version as I like to be able to download. I think it was something like £22 for the year.

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/12/2021 10:56

Don’t know how to do links. Look up “Twist and Shape”. Actually quite enjoyable. (Unless you have dodgy knees, in which case avoid)

I was talking to a friend about this yesterday. I'm a Les Mills addict and tend to get it. But if you're new, they don't explain what the moves are clearly and don't always cue very well. They also zoom out a lot, if you're tying to watch what they're doing then you're stuck!

It's a shame as they are such great workouts.
