So I'm (like many other people) a little bit chubby (cough) and need to drop some weight, and want to get fit.

I dont like cold, or going outside, and i'm not really a people person, so group stuff,.... nah

I'm thinking that I could do some workouts from my smart tv - and would like a good variety...!

So, what am I asking? Do you have a good FUN!! workout that you got online? I also have the elegance of a wounded slug.....

I will try (most) that are linked, for at least 30 5 minutes! Show me what you got and drop your links!!

I got into Plyojam over lockdown after finding Stacey Beaman doing a workout on the YouTube PopSugar channel. Still enjoy it but I’ve joined their platform now and it covers live and recorded classes. There are loads of different types free classes on PopSugar which are good, but the ads annoyed me.

Great recommendations on here! (Blatantly place marking)

JingleRattles · 27/12/2021 00:25

Also placemarking. Good ideas 👍

MissBattleaxe · 27/12/2021 00:26

Get a fit bit. Set it to 10k and if you absolutely can't get out for a walk, dance to Proud Mary 3 times in the kitchen.

stayathomer · 27/12/2021 00:29

Loved Joe Wicks and really started to feel a difference when I did it. So hard and the start but starts getting easier. Best of luck!

@MrsDThomas

I came on to say Heather Robertson too. She’s good. I hate the whoop whoop awesome shouty people. Heather doesn’t speak!
Oh me too. It just annoys me rather than motivates me!
Herecomesthesun70 · 27/12/2021 09:33

Another vote for Les Mills. It's a great variety of work outs

MatchsticksForMyEyesReturns · 27/12/2021 09:36

Mr and Mrs Muscle on YouTube. Generally about half an hour. I do the ones with dumbbells. I'm also someone who doesn't want them prattling on, so it's perfect for me.

FlamesEmbersAshes · 27/12/2021 09:37

Well done you for wanting to get fitter.

As someone who exercises most days and has done for years, I would say that in the long term, habit is the most important thing.

I do often really enjoy exercising and find it fun (Christmas Day parkrun was brilliant!) but sometimes it’s just something I need to get done before getting on with my day. Much of my exercising is done in front of my TV at 5.30 in the morning before I go to work. Often, I’m not that enthusiastic and sometimes even a bit bored. BUT, I always feel great afterwards and I like what exercise does for my health (mental and physical) and my appearance.

Not sure what I’m trying to say really. Perhaps accept that sometimes you might not find it fun and that’s ok? Sometimes I do get bored and I like to mix it up - find new YouTubers etc. But I also really like doing a familiar routine where you know what’s coming next and don’t have to think too much!

My current favs are Grow with Jo and Caroline Girvan.

Powerpotpie · 27/12/2021 09:37

@Sunnycats

Heather Robertson on youtube - her workouts are AMAZING and so much variety you never have to do the same one twice. Lots of low impact HIIT as well which makes me sweat like nothing else! Caroline Girvan is another fantastic one. I recommend getting a set of dumbbells too. You wont regret it!
Agreed - I love Heather! I’ve just finished a 30 minute workout where I got nice and sweaty and warm Grin and now set up for the day.
ExplodingCarrots · 27/12/2021 09:40

Jamie Kinkeade dance workouts . Lots of fun but challenging. Pamela Reif also has some great dance workouts too.
Bodyfit by Amy has been my favourite for years for straight forward workouts with dumbbells etc but when I want to change it up a bit I go to the dance workouts .

Rainbowqueeen · 27/12/2021 09:46

I like madfit on YouTube She does simple dance routines plus workouts with dumb bells etc
Loving lots of these other ideas too.

Marmite27 · 27/12/2021 10:50

Placemarking.

Our DVD player has broken, and we’re not bothering with a new one, but we have skyQ that has YouTube integrated into it 👍

lebkuchenforxmas · 27/12/2021 10:55

I'm loving all of these suggestions. We've just re-arranged a few things in the house so we now have a TV in a room which can be shut off from upstairs so I could exercise in the morning without disturbing the DC & DH. Perhaps I should do this before forking out again for gym membership

MilitantFaucet · 27/12/2021 10:57

Kettlebells is good as it can be done in a few mins a day and is full body

Noisyprat · 27/12/2021 11:00

Growingannanas. Monthly workout plans, loads of various length and types of workout.

She doesn’t speak either so no annoying chat. Agree with others making it habit is key and being consistent.

TheDogsMother · 27/12/2021 11:11

Les Mills On Demand. I'm currently following the Barre program. Caroline Girvan because I like using weights. Jillian Michaels because I like the variety.

EnolaAlone · 27/12/2021 11:11

I like Popsugar Fitness on YouTube, loads of variety.

LuaDipa · 27/12/2021 15:52

Another recommendation for Les Mills On Demand and also the Peloton app.

coodawoodashooda · 27/12/2021 16:10

@Worldgonecrazy

Caroline Girvan is brilliant. Her workouts really make a difference to your level of fitness, and her focus on functional fitness is so important to staying healthy all your life. She dies a lot of strength work, so your body becomes strong with out being bulky. Definitely recommend her!
That's a great recommendation!
Dearblossom · 27/12/2021 21:10

Loving the Proud Mary idea, heels? Grin
Eggmcmuffin · 27/12/2021 22:45

Shamelessly peacemaking as I need to motivate myself!
