I was awake at 6am but refused to get out of bed until closer to 7 am.
Sat downstairs on my own as usual, getting my enter7from here !

I love these threads. Sadly we don't have any children, but I always imagine this time of year is just magical. Enjoy everyone!!

Merry Christmas all! I got up at 7:15 after a very disturbed night with dc5(4), a mix of excitement & asthma. I left Dh on the sofa & just had little one in bed with me. He finally went to sleep properly at 3am ish. Came down to a lovely coffee made by dh. Waiting for the older 4 (11, 10, 8 & 6) to wake up now.

I’ve been awake for a couple of hours. DH and three kids still sleeping.

My parents are poorly, and this is likely to be their last Christmas.

I have unwillingly joined a club for people for whom Christmas is a terribly painful time of year.

Tea and lots of silent tears so far, and its only 8:00am.

Merry Christmas everyone! I’ve just started the Sherry trifle, and I’m going to walk the dog now. I’m the only one up and it’s sooo peaceful!

DD 10 woke up at 2.30 and left us till 4.30 when the cat joined in trying to wake us up. I gave in at 5.30...

I actually thought I may get a lie in today. More fool me.

Presents all done so they are having breakfast while I chill out before getting ready to visit the in laws.

No kids here, but dogs didn't stir until after 7.30 which is a treat. I let them out for a wee and they are back snoozing. I am on sofa with a snuggly blanket listening to them snoring. DH is still asleep.

The weather is horrible here so it is lovely and peaceful to be indoors listening to the wind outside.

Just ourselves here today. We have no set plans, we will make dinner at some point, it is all ready to go in oven. Apart from that, it will be tv, books, Christmas music, wine and chocs throughout the day

Sleep, what's that. Insomnia again so had about 3 hours dozing listening to podcasts. Thankfully not cooking this year. Strong coffee for me

Me, merry Christmas,,,I set nine am for mine to wake up, so I’m sitting drinking coffee and mumsnetting whilst waiting 😃

Just me and our two ginger cats awake at the moment. DH has a bad cold so still in bed. Had tea and biscuits and got all the Christmas lights on. Thinking of my dear Mum - it's her birthday today - I miss her so much. We'll be going out later to spend the day with our daughter, son-in-law and our beautiful little grandson, two and a half. Mum, you'd love him - he has your smile!!!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

I’ve had my breakfast. If they’re not up by 9am I’m getting in the shower and walking the dog.

I woke up at 7.19. My hand's too tired to lift up my eyes want to close but my brain won't switch off.

D dog woke dh and I up at 7 30 I've done the stocking and d dog has been fed and he is now having his morning nap (on top of me) dh made me a pot of tea and we have agreed 9 30 is the latest we will leave the kids 18 20 22 and 24 sleeping.

As we celebrate Danish style on the 24th we have never done the mad early starts for the 25th but 9 am is late happy Christmas i will admit to be enjoying my morning cuddle w d dog

DS (5) slept in my bed and started stirring at 4.30... ExDP (his dad) was dragged out of bed in the guest room by DS at 5am, and dispatched (on my orders, served by DS! ) to flick the heating on and make a cafetière.

We’ve opened gifts (DS spoiled rotten by family), played with DS’ games, had pancakes and now I’m sat with a lemsip (bloody horrid cold- thank god not covid) as an aperitif before I open some champagne in a couple of hours, whilst DS and his dad start assembling Lego.

It’s been a lovely morning but VERY ready for a siesta

Up at 6.30, chocolate orange breakfast consumed, just enjoying sitting around instead of the usual pottering and tidying up. DS (5) currently wearing mine and his Christmas stockings as socks and building some lego.

I most enjoyed opening the dog’s present with her !

I didn’t fall asleep till about 4am, DH arrived back with his Mother at midnight. They were supposed to arrive about 8pm, it’s her, she is bloody useless. Have known her since she was in her fifties and she was always shit at timekeeping now she is 80 it’s worse. I have been awake for 30 mins, Oven is on, I’m drinking tea in bed. She will start making her breakfast soon, she has to do it and it will take two hours to prep and eat. I do love her really but she is massively frustrating.

We were all out in the yard at 5 am this morning to see the sun come up (and find the cooler bit of the day). ‘‘Twas lovely. The sun took too long so the teen went back to bed. Then early Mass before cranking the aircon. 43 degrees here today.
