I've spent the day making cheesecakes, salads and laughing with my teenagers in the kitchen. Cranked up the music and danced. By mid afternoon I was praying for a storm as it was so hot. This evening we went for a swim after dinner, in fact I've been in 3 times. I've had a few glasses of wine and feeling really festive now.

We’ve just opened Christmas PJs (well normal ones) and kids are bathing. We’ll eat once they are all done, then watching Elf followed by our tradition of Disney’s A Christmas Carol then bed.

ParkheadParadise · 24/12/2021 17:26

Had my hair and nails done this morning.
Went over to neighbours house this afternoon for Christmas drinks🥂🥂
Just about to run dd a bath she's already asking to go to bed 🙈🙈.
Order takeaway have a couple of drinks then get ready for Santa🎅🎅🎅

Biscuitandacuppa · 24/12/2021 17:28

Up early and finished the Xmas wrapping, stocking all stuffed and presents hidden.

Gave Dd the Xmas Eve box this morning which had new slippers, pj’s, 3D colouring puzzle and a tin of new bath stuff.

So far we’ve watched Brave, Frozen and Frozen II.

I’ve also cleaned the bedrooms, changed the bedding and hoovered.

Shortly it’ll be baths and face masks.

Lovely chilled out day.

I'm in the kebab shop right now getting the traditional Christmas Eve dinner. I'll have some wine too once I'm home. I spent today mostly relaxing. Put a few more baubles on the tree and chucked some tinsel around

ConnectedToSandsview · 24/12/2021 17:52

Spending Christmas alone.

I ordered my online shopping for delivery today, including a fresh Turkey to make Christmas dinner for me and my elderly dog. It got substituted for a frozen one.

My curry takeaway took 3.5 hours for delivery

There were bloody fireworks about half an hour ago, so curry got interrupted by getting into doggy’s bed with him whilst he was shaking.

It’s going great.

I’m sorry Thanks

How is your dog now? And was the takeaway nice at least?

Cooked turkey crown bins emptied had steak and chips for tea (traditional Christmas Eve) now chilling out with kindle books or games later will watch dvds.

ScrumptiousBears · 24/12/2021 19:15

I worked from home whilst the DCs sat on their iPads. DP fucked about and did his shit. I finished work and did the housework. DP went for a walk to collect a parcel from an Amazon locker. Now bathing the kids whilst reading and posting this. DP now speaking to his mum trying to result a very common family issue where everyone's being a twat and now alone at Christmas 🤣

Can you see the pattern where DP doesn't Contribute much? He will be the cook tomorrow although I don't like his roast potatoes so I may have to intervene 🤣

Indoctro · 24/12/2021 19:18

Took my 5/7 year olds to a Santa steam train ride with granny as my husband away working m
Then hike and I went for a 5k run with dog while they played

Now watching a Xmas movie before bed

RamblingOldWoman · 24/12/2021 19:23

I WFH then knocked off early at 2.30. Had a leetle nap as was out food shopping unit 2am to beat the crowds today. DC did some last minute shopping and DH got today off so cleared the washing baskets Shock. DD did the ham in coke which we had with hot baguettes and Waldorf salad on the side (Xmas Eve tradition), watched a movie on Netflix with chocs and Baileys. Very depressing ending which I didn’t expect so need to cheer myself up now!

We were going to do our traditional Xmas Eve walk around the village to see the lights, then come back and do a fire in the fire pit and roast marshmallows with hot chocolate but it’s pissing down Angry.

So we’re going to see if it holds off in another hour or so. I did most of my wrapping and cleaning last night so I’m going to enjoy a hot bath with lots of candles and Baileys later.

Enjoying Christmas so much more DCs are older!

icebearforpresident · 24/12/2021 19:25

DH is working so just been me and the kids. They’ve spent most of today spent to the Santa Tracker on Sky (thank you sky!) and I’ve been prepping as much as possible for tomorrow. Made a chocolate pie for dessert, par-boiled my potatoes, peeled my veg etc.

Kids are now in their new Xmas jammies watching One Night In Hamleys on All4 and I’ve just finished dinner (eating, not making) and having my first gin.

RainforestLizard · 24/12/2021 19:35

Watched "Sing" this morning cuddled up with DS. Then relatively lazy day. Had a takeaway lunch from a new cafe in the village, wrapped some presents, went for a walk with dd to look at Christmas lights and after a buffet tea and early bath we're now watching Home Alone and eating chocolates.

troppibambini6 · 24/12/2021 19:44

Tidied up, changed beds, made granola, braised red cabbage and mashed potato.
Then went out for a lovely lunch (group of 22 of us five families) then walked up to the first mass of Christmas with all the kids. It was so nice.
Back home and the elf has left the Xmas Eve boxes so we are all relaxing on Xmas pjs waiting for my mum to arrive.

Misty9 · 24/12/2021 20:18

Did the food shop, took lots of meds to try and dull migraine pain, dc arrived for the night from their dad's, chippy tea, watched a film with popcorn and now killing time until they're tired enough for bedtime Xmas Grin then I'll endeavour to stay awake to stuff their stockings and go to bed myself. No booze as don't want anymore head pain.

Weesiewoo · 24/12/2021 21:01

I am enjoying reading what everyone one is up to. So many traditions that mean so much to each of us. It seems to me that the women if the house do most of the preparation. I hope you all are appreciated for every little thing you do.

I've been under a duvet on the sofa watching films all day. Its pissing down with rain or too foggy to go anywhere. I made a mousakka for dinner and I'm just settling down again with a rum and some After Eights.

delilahbucket · 24/12/2021 21:31

A fairly normal Christmas Eve here. Butchers and fishmongers this morning, salmon gravadlax set to cure, some washing and cleaning done, DS done a Christmas jigsaw with me and DH, late lunch at our local this afternoon followed by panto. Festive cocktails now, DS gone to watch something "boring" in bed so he can sleep! Even at 13 he's excited.

AngelsEyeball · 24/12/2021 21:36

I’m listening to one of my neighbours screaming well shrieking to be more accurate at her husband..surprised he hasn’t walked out he usually does. Then she screams down the stairs at him.

LuluBlakey1 · 24/12/2021 21:42

DC in bed. DH and I are doing their stockings on the table in the kitchen. He has just hobbled in from the utility (leg in plaster)and has made us Negronis. I have never had one before - it's delicious but I think quite alcoholic. 😁

HerRoyalNotness · 24/12/2021 21:50

About as boring as every other night. Except with Xmas movies. Oh and youngest and I made a craft earlier, that was nice. There’ll be drinking. And I have to decide if I cook dinner or get a takeout. No one else will decide.

Mummadeze · 24/12/2021 21:57

Played Supermario with my DD for about an hour. Cooked chicken fajitas for us. Watched the new Disney movie on Disney+ that was released today. My DD will still put cookies and milk out for Santa and hang her stocking even though she is 13. It’s been relaxing.

wineandchocolateforthewin · 24/12/2021 21:59

My daughter is 5 so we've taken her to a Christmas Eve party at the local bar, lots of school friends there so she's had an amazing time, she fell asleep quickly after a Christmas movie and now we're in bed too

peaceanddove · 24/12/2021 22:03

Had a long lie in this morning. Then we all went out for brunch. This afternoon I did some last minute pressie shopping, followed by 2 and a half hours bloody pressie wrapping. This evening we all watched Polar Express drinking poncetastic hot chocolates with gold sprinkles.

Just relaxing now with a cuppa before an early night x

riotlady · 24/12/2021 22:28

In laws came round for a curry lunch then I took DD to the crib service at church with my mum and granny. Buffet at my mums then came home, put DD to bed and watched some more of The Witcher. About to try and sneak presents under the tree- tricky as DDs room is right next ti living room!
