How long does a bacon sandwich keep you going for?

I had a glorious bacon sandwich at about 11am - back at home in Ireland for Christmas, and the bread and the bacon is WRONG where I live ordinarily so can't just have one whenever I like. How I savoured my sandwich.

Still not hungry. 4 rashers of bacon and 2 slices of bread (standard white pan) which is probably vital information.

I've just looked at all the delicious stuff in the fridge and cupboards, but cannot do it justice yet.

How long does a bacon sandwich stave off hunger for you?

@UpCloseAndPersonalWithGlenda

I would have two rashers of bacon and one slice of thin bread (only ever white with bacon).

I'm sorry but that's not a bacon sandwich that's sadness on a plate

@BarbaraofSeville it has to be brown sauce with bacon only psychopaths put ketchup on bacon

turnaroundtime · 18/12/2021 20:18

@Bluntness100

Did you actually eat all that? Four slices of bacon nd two slices of bread? That’s a shit lot. No wonder you’re not hungry.

On the other hand..for most people it depends on whar physical activity you’ve done, what you ate the day before, are you feeling well etc.

2 slices of bread is literally a normal sandwich. 4 rashers of bacon is like 2 slices of ham. Away with you and your trolling.

@Pangolin44

I am assuming that you live in the US if the bread and bacon are wrong for a bacon sandwich.

Four rashers of bacon is standard or you're doing it wrong. Also white bread is obligatory. A bacon sandwich on brown bread is the work of a diseased mind.

Butter on one half, the other half needs soaking in the pan fat.

If I had it for breakfast it would sate me happily until lunch. So 4/5 hours.

@Pangolin44 Did you not read the OP properly or did you just want to a reason to take a pop at the US? The location was stated within the first 10 words.

A well made Bacon Buttie can keep me going for a couple of hours .
3 slices of thick cut smoked bacon *
Tescos seeded loaf toasted
Butter
brown sauce or if I am feeling posh whole grain mustard
and a cup of coffee

If anyone has not come across it yet , look for 'cooking or pie bacon' its all the mis cuts and ends in what ever supermarket , it takes a bit of sorting out and some times can be a bit fatty but I have also had bacon steaks that weigh about 150g each it is so* much cheaper . I think Tescos is about £1.50 for 500 g !

ElfCalavicci · 18/12/2021 20:44

umm not sure why that last para is bold Confused

Pinkstegosaurus · 18/12/2021 20:51

A truly excellent bacon butty (which yours sounds like it is) will last me precisely until the bacon is brown for the next one.
I’m frightfully common so only ketchup will do for me, smoked bacon with all the fat chopped off and lovely fluffy white bread.
And now I’m craving a bacon sarnie 😂

HelloDulling · 18/12/2021 20:56

Four slices of bacon is more that I would use, so that would fill me up for quite a while. Then about 3pm I’d be in the biscuit Tim.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 18/12/2021 21:12

If one assumes it includes the head about 3 to 4 days,
if it is the other end (!) then just two days as I don't really like to eat the crust...

🤮

Antsgomarching · 18/12/2021 21:19

You need MORE bacon and butter, I hope you used butter.

FarmCat31 · 18/12/2021 21:29

Occasionally I’ll buy the middle bacon (?) which is the bacon bacon and the streaky bacon as one slice. One of those and a egg in a buttered roll will keep me going from breakfast til tea time, but I rarely eat lunch as I prefer a bigger breakfast and tea.
I don’t have it very often but when I know I have a busy day ahead it hits the spot.

ISpyCobraKai · 18/12/2021 21:34

I always buy smoked streaky bacon.

@Antsgomarching President salted butter 🤤
Longdistance · 18/12/2021 21:39

I had a bacon on ciabatta bread roll this morning at 10am, I then had dinner at 6pm.

Pangolin44 · 18/12/2021 23:40

Erm, no @JingsMahBucket, OP says she's back in Ireland for Christmas, and that where she usually lives does not have the right bread or bacon for a proper bacon sandwich.

I like the US very much, certainly not having a pop, it can't be argued though that their bread and bacon are thoroughly unsuitable for a proper UK/Irish bacon buttie!

Timeisavirtue · 18/12/2021 23:55

Till about 5pm

dubyalass · 19/12/2021 09:59

Putting this to the test this morning. No sliced bread in, so I had to use flatbreads (so bloody middle class) and I split five rashers of smoked streaky bacon between two flatbreads. So tasty. No butter or sauce, just pure bacon joy washed down with tea.

I give it to mid-morning; I'm premenstrual and have an insatiable appetite today.

DoncasterHombre · 19/12/2021 13:53

@ShirleyPhallus

I’d say about 4 weeks. Maybe a thimble of water and a single grape to keep me going for another week

Then I might have a massive salad and that’s me for another 3 weeks. Anyone who says otherwise is a greedy bitch honestly

@shirleyPhallus

Would you eat the whole grape? Not just the skin?

#greedybitch indeed.

Senmumm2021 · 19/12/2021 15:05

Id still be hungry after that Blush

Kezzie200 · 19/12/2021 16:03

If I have something like that for breakfast then I'll often only eat two meals in a day.

5thnonblonde · 19/12/2021 16:12

I’m veggie but had a Linda McCartney sausage sarnie at about 11 yesterday and that kept me going til tea. 2 sausages, brown warnurtons seeded bread and brown sauce 🥰

To the pp who only uses 1 bit of bread for a sarnie wtaf?! That’s just bacon on bread or bruschetta at best?

BlackCatz · 19/12/2021 16:14

@DeepDeepThought

I had a massive salad in 1996 and haven't eaten anything since. Well done for contributing to the obesity crisis OP.
😂😂😂
eightmaidsamilking · 19/12/2021 16:16

All day for me. I usually have a bacon or sausage sandwich as a late breakfast at 11am and it keeps me going until the evening with a piece of fruit.

eightmaidsamilking · 19/12/2021 16:17

P.S. I am fat and menopausal so this is not a stealth boast.

5thnonblonde · 19/12/2021 16:17

Just to be clear when I said my sarnie yesterday kept me going til tea I did mean tea yesterday not today Grin

Grapes are loaded with sugar you know. Might as well be candy ffs.
