prettyflutterby · 17/12/2021 20:35

I've got my book up for pre-order! I've been working on it for years and I'm finally publishing it. I'm so excited!

newlabelwriter · 17/12/2021 20:37

After much deliberation we’ve got family visiting this weekend and DD is so happy. It’s been really hard for her this year as had so much cancelled due to to covid and was really upset at thought of this being cancelled too.

Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 17/12/2021 20:37

@CrystalMaisie we will medicinally require pictures

And @prettyflutterby congratulations!!!

I have one to add.

My daughter lives and works in New Zealand. I haven't seen her for a very long time (over three years) due to cancelled trips during the pandemic. She loves receiving parcels so I packed up her Christmas gifts as usual and posted them. I knew the post was slow at present so went for 'Global Priority' (supposed to be 4-6 days) on 1 December.

Tracking has shown it as 'prepared for export' at the 'International Hub' since 2 December. Nothing to show it had actually left the UK at all, no mention of arrival or customs. No news when chased up with Parcelforce either.

Anyway, today it has popped up in NZ and is out for delivery! So she will receive her gifts in time for Christmas.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August. Have been going through treatment over the last few months and finished my last radiotherapy a week ago.
I am NED (no evidence of disease) and the genetic test done on the tumour came back with a very low score meaning I have a very low risk of distant recurrences.
It was great to get it all out of the way before Christmas.
I am really tired so we will have a very quiet Christmas to celebrate.
It’s been a black cloud over the whole family but hopefully clear skies are ahead.

tiddledpink · 22/12/2021 18:36

I finished work today for Christmas.
it will be the first time in 6 years that I've been able to book annual leave and can spend the time solely with DS7.

No having to log on or head into the office until NYE.

DMCWelshcakes · 22/12/2021 18:41

For the last few weeks my DDad has been very seriously ill and has almost died 3 times. This afternoon he phoned me from the hospital to say that the latest treatment option they've tried seems to have done the trick and he's not dying any more. Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

My dd has just received an achievable university offer from her first choice university. Really good positive end to the year and a real relief. Smile.

TawnyPippit · 22/12/2021 18:56

(By the way, that wasn’t a boasty post, it was a Thank F*ck post)

Meduse · 22/12/2021 18:58

My son got married on Saturday-it was perfect 🤩

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 22/12/2021 19:03

We’re at the airport and just about to board a flight to see family. DS (3.5) has been an absolute star and is charming everyone in his little Santa outfit. All on time so far and grandad is picking us up at the other end. Can’t wait to have a family Christmas and skiing new year!

Mammma91 · 22/12/2021 19:21

This thread really cheered me up! My lovely DP has worked 6 sometimes 7 days a week, anything between 9-12 hours a day for over a year with 1 or 2 days off holiday (self employed). Today he finished up until the 6th of January and my 2 year old DS is absolutely loving having daddy home and calm. He has also cracked on and helped me get the house ready for Christmas. Merry Christmas all xx

Cantgetgoing · 22/12/2021 19:23

I've managed to finally sort the spare room out, now sat with a gin with tea ready waiting for DP to get home. Feeling happy Smile

San141 · 22/12/2021 19:37

I can update mine, I started my first job in 11 years today!! It went really well and the manager hopes they extend my contract!!

San141 · 22/12/2021 19:39

@DMCWelshcakes that is bloody fantastic!! What an amazing Christmas present x

San141 · 22/12/2021 19:43

@Cantgetgoing I need to sort every room !!

EventOfTheSeason · 22/12/2021 19:49

We were given a lovely sofa but it was too small. We bought a new one which was delivered the other day and we gave the old lovely one to a parent from DDS school who was delighted as her one was broken. Two happy families.

San141 · 22/12/2021 20:09

@EventOfTheSeason it's the little things that help isn't it?!

newlabelwriter · 23/12/2021 02:15

I’ve just picked up an email to say an interview I’d given up on, I’m actually being their t preferred candidate and they’re putting together an offer for me. Am slightly in shock and also it’s 2am here (couldn’t sleep) so I can’t tell anyone IRL. 😊

KloppsTeeth · 23/12/2021 02:24

Stuck in for a covid Christmas. The sheer number of random people who have offered help with shopping et. has been heartwarming.
A fried dropped a care package at the door, with some fresh bread, and all the ingredients for a cream tea. She knew I can still taste things. I was so touched at her thoughtfulness I had a cry. Lots of good people out there.

teaandchocolate1 · 23/12/2021 02:29

I am expecting a baby girl in February. Her name will be Rose.
