Just taking a pause from wrapping and…

I can’t get going again Grin
Where do you do it? I’ve tried at the kitchen island and table but things keep falling off so I’ve resorted to the front room floor. My back (which is already a bit dodgy) is aching so I’ve taken a short break. I may not start again this evening!

I use this, have reused them for three years now. So much easier.

buy 2 ironing boards

itspartytime · 16/12/2021 05:30

I found the key to wrapping is several glasses of wine and a deadline of ' shit it's Xmas Eve and we've only got about five hours unlit then kids are up ' works most years.

garlictwist · 16/12/2021 05:54

Never do it on the floor - you will wreck your back! I do it standing at the kitchen worktop.

Agadorsparticus · 16/12/2021 05:56

I've been wrapping as I go, at the Dining table. I wanted to get it done whilst the kids were at school. I got the twitch yesterday and now I'm done.

Agadorsparticus · 16/12/2021 05:58

It all went in the loft but now it has to come down so I can organise them into birthday and gifts that need to be delivered.

Elderflower14 · 16/12/2021 06:08

I wrapped the majority of mine at the dining table on Sunday afternoon listening to Johnnie Walker on R2 with a mug of tea!

TeenMinusTests · 16/12/2021 09:19

I used to do it on the floor - no idea why.
When I got older I graduated to the dining room table - so much easier!

Mumdiva99 · 16/12/2021 09:25

I was going to do it with the baileys and film. But I drank the baileys and didn't wrap the presents. Now I have to wrap all the kids stuff today as they are home by midday tomorrow and eldest goes to bed when I do so evenings don't work now.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/12/2021 09:41

Dining table. I used to do it on the (carpeted) floor but my knees weren’t happy. All wrapping paper is in a huge Christmas bag that usually lives in the loft, with sellotape, ribbons, tags, etc. in a smaller bag inside the bigger one.

We had a far-flung-family meet-up/present swop last week so most of it is done, thank goodness. I am thankfully past the stage where I’d still be frantically wrapping at 20 past midnight on Christmas morning.

emmathedilemma · 16/12/2021 09:45

Genius, this might be the most use my ironing board has had in the last 2 years! I usually sit on the floor but it's wooden so not good for my bum or back!

DoucheCanoe · 16/12/2021 09:50

I kneel beside my bed.

Also bought fabric drawstring bags this year and will be investing in more! So much prettier and easier to use 😁

sofakingcool · 16/12/2021 10:33

I sit at the dining table

Used to sit on the floor, until one year it triggered a really bad pain in my hip so I was hobbling all Christmas Hmm! Must be getting old..

Reminds me, I need to buy sellotape

That's my motto Grin
Frankii · 16/12/2021 11:55

I would have thought that bagged gifts are so much less fun than unwrapping ones with paper - do kids like it as much?

MyDcAreMarvel · 16/12/2021 12:04

@Frankii they are fastened with elastic bands so they are no quicker to open.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 16/12/2021 12:31

I spread everything out in the living room and wrap the presents sitting on my sofa. Any other way gives me back ache.
Kitchen table has worked in the past but my whole family is WFH so it’s impossible this year as they’ll see what I’m wrapping.

HalfWomanHalfMincePie · 16/12/2021 12:32

I used to do it at my dressing table - it was just easier there. Now I wfh I have a desk so wrap there (between meetings Grin).

Tinuviel · 16/12/2021 13:48

I've made a shedload of fabric gift bags and am looking forward to 'wrapping presents' a lot quicker! However, my DCs are adult. If they were younger, I would do a mixture. We also use the floor/coffee table depending on how my back is.

DoucheCanoe · 16/12/2021 13:59

@Frankii ours have ribbon strings so I pull them shut and tie in a bow but they do have wrapped gifts too. The bags are great for tiny little gifts in stockings and clothes that can be a bit of a pain to wrap.

I can't say either of mine care about the wrapping right enough but this is the first year we're using them... Time will tell I suppose!

Deathraystare · 16/12/2021 15:56

I don't enjoy it because I am crap at wrapping stuff. It is slightly better now I no longer have a cat - whose tail would routinely be sellotaped to the present (not intentionally!!).

languagelover96 · 16/12/2021 16:08

In my bedroom

MarmitesMyMate · 16/12/2021 16:12

Living room floor. But this year I sat in the loft and wrapped as everything had been thrown up there. And no way was I bringing it all down sorting wrapping and taking back up.
5 hours it took me. To sort and wrap

MarmitesMyMate · 16/12/2021 16:15

@seatosky u need a sellotape dispenser.. Game changer.. Nice heavy one
