Takeaway for one

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 11/12/2021 21:22

is this odd?

I'm a bit nervous,

Dh is out, I've got the TV to myself, really hungry and dh said treat myself to a takeaway but I'm nervous about answering the door on my own with children asleep. Am I being silly.

Have chosen what I want we've used this place before so I know they are good I just need to woman up and ring lol

Anyone else enjoy a takeaway by themselves?

They've all got a fairly high minimum delivery charge here, so I've never done it, but no other reason not to.

tiredanddangerous · 11/12/2021 21:42
Confused
NMC2022 · 11/12/2021 21:47

I live alone so yes. All the time!

TeaMeBasil · 11/12/2021 21:51

It's fine, just do it.

Would you feel weird about answering the door to the postman?

MonicaGellerBing · 11/12/2021 21:52

Tofu isn't takeaway food surely 🤣

🤣 it's amazing from this Chinese, battered and deep fried. Nothing healthy about it at all!!

I loved a Chinese when I lived alone, always king prawn fried rice.

MajorNeville · 11/12/2021 22:03

My DS once ordered a single can of Coke at 1am, he paid a small fortune for it!

ISpyCobraKai · 11/12/2021 22:07

Glad you got over your nerves.
Also, tofu is amazing.
Agedashi tofu is one of my Christmas day dishes, and I love salt and pepper tofu from the Chinese takeaway 😋

Notsomerryandbright · 11/12/2021 22:07

Ooh enjoy op! I get what you mean. When my dh is on back shift and I want a takeaway I usually say something like 'yeah get me a plate too' as I approach the door so I don't look like I'm on my own. No idea why!

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 11/12/2021 22:14

How do you think single people eat when they don't fancy cooking?

SpookyScarySkeletons · 11/12/2021 22:15

Order through an app. Choose contact free delivery. Add a not to ask them to leave it at the door and step back. That gives you time to look through spy hole or window to check they are who you are expecting.

gogohm · 11/12/2021 22:16

You are being daft, how would the driver know you were home alone even - we order one meal between us sometimes. I've had a takeaway for one tonight as dp is out

TurnUpTurnip · 11/12/2021 22:23

Are you ok? I’m a single parent and get takeaways often when I don’t feel like cooking, you seem really anxious about something very very small.

LynetteScavo · 11/12/2021 22:26

I used to live near an amazing Mexican... I use to order something for myself after putting 3 DC to bed. They got to know a particular dish ordered with nothing else was for me Blush. What I didn't realise was that the portion size was meant for two people BlushBlush. So they probably never figured M I was a sad loner (I actually wasn't, DH was just happy with a bowl of Weetabix rather than Mexican food)

LynetteScavo · 11/12/2021 22:26

Oh, and DD quite often orders pizza just for her.

ISpyCobraKai · 11/12/2021 22:41

To be fair to the OP, anxiety is absolutely awful.
When I was at my worst I wouldn't leave the house or shower for weeks at a time.
I'm a lot better now.

Terfydactyl · 11/12/2021 22:45

Ok that's a bit odd but I understand.
Options in future
Order enough for two, just eat the rest the next day
Woman up and order what you want.
Tofu is not a food.
Hth

The OP hasn't said she suffers from anxiety?

She said she's a 'bit nervous' and then 12 minutes later she decided to get over those nerves.

TurnUpTurnip · 11/12/2021 22:49

Well the op asked if it was odd and yes it is, would you be scared to answer the door to the Tesco’s man if you was in alone? You can tell them on some apps to leave it at the door but ime most still knock anyway.

OnlyHereForTheClothes · 11/12/2021 22:51

You could do deliveroo and say you're isolating and can't answer the door? Minimal human contact that way!

rainbowunicorn · 11/12/2021 22:58

How do some people get through a day? Honestly reading this and the build up to do something that millions of people do every week is ridiculous.

icelolly12 · 11/12/2021 23:03

I know what you mean op, enjoy! Hot and sour soup is my fave!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 11/12/2021 23:15

Thanks all. Really pleased I did it. Having a lovely time. Thanks again all!
