I want to get my lovely mum who has spent most of the last 18 months alone some AMAZING chocolates for Christmas. I usually hotel chocolat but looking for the best of the best, what are your expert recommendations?!

All the above are amazing, I can confirm. We have also just found a local producer who will post uk wide.
I bought a box for DH for Christmas and we've already eaten it. The pistachio truffle and Kirsch bombe was incredible. www.thechocolatepod.co.uk/

Also quite a fan of Alaine Ducasse. Wink

Miscos - artisan company, gets written up in the Sunday papers all the time. The cake balls are amazing.

Charbonnel Pink Marc de Champagne truffles. I know boozy chocolates isn't everyone's cup of tea but I absolutely love them.

Paul Young chocolates. Simply amazing.

The best chocolates I have ever tasted are Monty Bojangles, but I don't think they are very posh!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 06/12/2021 19:58

I second Kennedy's www.kennedyschocolates.co.uk/ the selection is phenomenal
Also - Annalisa Barbieri in the Observer - she tests and recommends all kinds of chocolate. Worth a read of her articles.

@TheLeadbetterLife

If she likes old-fashioned fillings, then Guilbert's: guilbertschocolates.co.uk

I love them at Christmas, because they're the kinds of flavours you get in a Quality Street assortment, but not shite.

Would second this! A client sent me a box of these as a thank you once and they were v v nice and had a bit of an old fashioned/traditional vibe. I hope she enjoys whatever you send her!

If you want the best of the best then I'd recommend Alain Ducasse. Expensive but amazing. William Curley is also v. good.

Pump Street chocolate is amazing but best for bars rather than boxes pumpstreetchocolate.com/collections/all

ToffeeNotCoffee · 06/12/2021 21:31

My husband got me these for my birthday:
www.theindulgence.co.uk/

I've made another selection (I just circled my faves from the inlay card/menu) and asked for them for Christmas. A box of 36 chocolates.

Just click on the link and make your own selection.

They are glorious.

@TheLeadbetterLife - thank you for your recommendation for Guilbert’s chocolates. My husband is originally from Bristol so I’ve ordered some items from them, including their chocolate bars with “Bristol” written on the wrapping. Oddly enough although he adores chocolate, he’s never mentioned Guilbert’s. Also ordered a box for my mum. Personally I can’t stand any chocolate with flavoured creams...yuck!

Someone else mentioned Laderach chocolates: I used to live in Switzerland and loved buying their chocs. Still miss it :(

The local Swiss people I knew turned up their noses at Lindt lol! (I guess they thought it was the equivalent of Thornton’s or Cadbury’s).

funkythighcollector · 07/12/2021 12:23

Some of my faves are
Pierre Marcolini
Neuhaus
Chocolate Society
Z Chocolat

PickleSarnie · 07/12/2021 12:51

Paul A Young without a shadow of a doubt (and I've been very dedicated in my chocolate research!)

His Salted Caramels are the most amazing things ever.

puzzleline23 · 07/12/2021 14:04

Tempered Peach are actually insane - discovered them on an online market during a lockdown and now get them for every birthday in the house! Such a treat, delicious, beautiful and supporting a young female entrepreneur - she’s now gone full time

TheDogsMother · 07/12/2021 14:16

Another one for Paul A Young. Also one local to us. Their chocolates are fabulous nobleandstace.co.uk/

Bloodypunkrockers · 07/12/2021 16:44

Neuhaus for me.

Once a year treat but they're worth it

MancMum2000 · 07/12/2021 16:53

Another vote for Paul A Young. The absolute best.

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 07/12/2021 16:55

Watching with interest! Love God chocolates. Ilike Hotel chocolat. Also there's a lovely Welsh online store, I'll find the website if you're interested.
